Early Access Review
Before I say anything, play the demo. Now. It's not as great as the full game, but you get a good taste of it and your saves carry over. After playing for a while, I can say that this game is amazing evidence for the Dead Internet Theory. Game is meant to simulate old-school MMOs and for that purpose it is knocking it out of the park even in Early Access. As of writing this, the developer is focusing on gameplay tuning.

Graphics:
9/10. For a game simulating the older generation, it has an old Runescape feel that is very nostalgic. That's all there really is to say on the matter for now.

Audio:
6/10. The only place that has finished background music at the moment is Stowaway's Step outdoors with dynamic music that changes when you enter combat. Hoping this is eventually expanded upon.

Gameplay:
7/10. As an old-school simulated MMO, you are going to find yourself using the Wiki. A lot. This is part of the game's charm, as it brings you back to when you used online resources to help figure things out, like Thottbot for WoW.

Combat and skills need a little tweaking. It would help if all skills had a stat multiplier in terms of effectiveness, because at certain levels, they have a "falloff point". Game lacks a smart map and minimap by design. You'll basically be running through these areas for hours until you memorize their layout. You have to gauge enemy power, and the game helps a little bit with this, but it seems to lowball enemy power in terms of being able to fight alone.

Using keywords on NPCs sometimes includes hidden interactions that aren't even included in quest text, so you have to pay attention to all NPC dialog. Sometimes you have to give an NPC a piece of gear you find that belongs to them. If it is Blessed (a rare upgrade version of the drop), you get to keep it!

Inventory sorting is much better compared to the demo. You get tooltips on mouse over and there is a place for you to drop junk items. A good quality of life feature is that the junk slot doubles as another inventory slot just in case you have second thoughts on the item that you're throwing away. Gear levels are not visible and while you want to focus on your class's main stat as far as upgrades go, the item's Buy value is a good gauge of gear strength. Finally, there is the bank, which has multiple tabs, and is very generous with them. However, players are still trying to find a way to get the elusive 99th bank tab. Still waiting for an official way to name the tabs, but the expansive storage gives this a pass.

Stats seem to scale things a little. I heard that Charisma is supposed to include higher sell prices at vendors, and while I noticed that in the early game, it's not as noticeable at higher levels. There may be a Charisma cap. Some gear pieces have an extra ability which can help you greatly. One of these items is called the Journeying Boots, which is worth keeping an inventory slot open for it. There is a reason why it has an achievement named after it, so keep an eye out for it.

There are currently three professions; fishing, mining, and smithing. All three of these are pretty bare bones as of writing this. Fishing is currently not skill-based, which may change in the future. Mining only has two types of ores and two types of coals (and copper is rarer than iron for some odd reason). Smithing has a handful of molds, and if you use rarer fuel, the gear piece you're forging becomes Blessed, which is nice. While you can equip your fishing rod and pickaxe, you only need to equip the former to fish. Mining is a little janky as you have to "attack" the mineral deposits strewn across the overworld.

Speaking of jank, there is also janky climbing as of writing this! Go places you're not able to and climb to heights that you have never dreamed of!

The SimPlayers (or SimPs) are the game's main selling point. Their interactions and chat behaviors could use expanding upon, but this game is still pretty early in development, so flaws like this can slide for now. They are pretty smart when pathing aside from sticking occasionally, and they have their own combat AI. You can invite up to three of them in a party and the world supposedly scales in strength. They are constantly wanting to buy things, and if you trade them something that they don't want, they will give it back. In dungeons, party members will ask for gear you find, usually if it upgrades them. You are not obligated to give them anything but the stat increases do help. They deserve that upgrade love, but balance their upgrades with yours. They also push NPCs for some reason if they're in your party.

Other interactions include blocking you if you kick them from the party when they die, whispering to join your party if there's room and you've had a good group before, and noobs are constantly begging for gear and marvelling at your strong equipment. It's a good start and definitely needs expanding upon. I will be suggesting a LOT of changes to Burgee regarding this when they are ready to. Years of MMO experience prior to this has made me a little savvy on how players act out in the overworld, in dungeons and in raids.

There is an in-game Auction House where the SimPlayers hawk all kinds of things! They sell overpriced items, however if you can't get the item yourself, it could be worth the price to get an item that can upgrade you. They also sell seasonal gear as of writing this, which allows you to access them outside of the event. Selling your own items is a little limited at the moment. For now, SimPs will only buy gear from your shop, and when you get the hang of market prices, you can overprice your stock too. Even if you are able to list something like a potion, they will mostly buy your gear.

Overall:
8/10. This game has a long ways to go before it's stellar, but I see the potential. This game isn't for everyone, because it has a target audience that wants to not only go back to a time where MMOs were simple, but also be able to play them on their own time. It has a great community and the developer is working hard with them to make improvements one at a time. I used to play Xenoblade Chronicles X before this, another MMO-lite game, but once I picked this up, I didn't go back.

A lot of this game is B.S. Sort the Court nonsense. Every time I needed to make a choice to progress an achievement, it was the choice that killed me. The Dungeon is the worst because of random generation, I hate the duels, these skeletons suck, I just want to complete the tasks. Just play Sort the Court instead. At least in that game you can get Excalibur.

If you can manage to keep your hands out of your pants and actually play the game, you'll find tightly-timed notes and a slew of mods.

Yeah, it's a porn game, so what?

I liked the takeaway that this test had. It only took 30 minutes, and the game is right. Answer honestly and take the time you need to get the best result.

Honestly I can't find myself using any other costume DLC for this game. It's evidence that this game is Sonic Adventure 3 in disguise.

As other reviews have stated, do NOT wait for a sale. The devs deserve every penny they get for this game. In this game you play as, well, you, in a parallel universe where humanity has found another planet suitable for human life. You'll live a teenage life one month at a time starting from age 10, where every event is handled in the form of a quirky poker game, and your core memories are the cards. You have a bunch of skills that you can raise by playing this game of poker, and a ton of paths to take. Junction points, Life or death. Do you become an upstanding citizen of your colony, persuasive enough to take over as Governor, or do you live a life of danger, putting yourself on the frontlines. Or maybe you just want to chill with an adorable spider squid and a one-foot mouse like I did. It's all up to you.

But if you do play this game, know that you will play it multiple times, because you have a friend who wants you to live your best life, and you have a secret power you will discover over the course of the game. Good luck, exocolonist!

While not perfect, it's really good for a Sonic game. I was captivated by the visuals. It's packed with nostalgia, and there's a ton of challenges. First boss was great.
