More intense story than expected, not a bad thing though. Good puzzles. Kind of a "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" game

Early Access Review
What other RPG can give you "+4 Bees per 10 Seconds" on your equipment? I only wish the game had more gender freedom for the classes.

I think I would've enjoyed this if I had played it before Soulslikes took off, but the controls just aren't up to modern-par.

Makes me wish there were more games like this. Orcs Must Die is the only big one, I think.

I wasn't expecting a HORROR GAME, but at this point I'm going to finish it to see what happens lol

Single-player, third-person shooter with superpowers, basically.

The combat wasn't bad. Most of the gun types are just ok, pretty disappointing shotgun for example. Just ended up using the first type (Grip (not a spoiler)) for most of the game, so they don't seem well-balanced.

However, the story was where this shined. There's a lot of optional-to-read and optional-to-listen-to side lore/worldbuilding, and I was actually interested in it, unlike in, say, Skyrim. You could probably finish the game much faster than I did if you don't read it, but I found it very interesting. There were several cool moments in the story, as well, and not super predictable or anything.

The time listed (73 hours) was how long it took me to complete the game and all side quests (although not all other optional content like optional bosses).

Bottom line up front: The combat isn't bad, but play this when you mainly want to experience a good story with fun characters.

The good:
- The plot is well-written with plenty of unforeseen twists.
- The dialogue between the characters is fun, often cute, and made me laugh often.
- While the combat starts off simple, it quickly ramps up in complexity until you're forgetting all the options you have. (This is a plus for me, but it may not be for you.) I'm still not really sure I mastered it.
- Definitely not too easy. I've beaten some difficult games, but I didn't even touch Hard difficulty here.

The less-good:
- The combat ramps up in complexity almost too fast. I couldn't remember all the controls for the longest time, and second-guessed my memory of them when they didn't work.
- The game doesn't have a lot of skill involved in avoiding attacks, so a lot of bosses are just level/gear checks. That means grinding if you avoid too much combat.
- In line with the above, once you understand the core of the mid-combat complexity, the only place left to improve is by trying to figure out the intentionally-obscure equipment-fusing "minigame." Or grind a lot instead.
- One of the (male) main characters for the final ~1/4 of the game flirts with women who have already told him they're not interested. In other words, sexual harassment in a "hero." He was quite unlikeable.
- Some of the dialogue is confusing or nonsense, presumably sub-par localization issues. It's never anything important, but it reads like an inside-joke you're not on the inside of.

Other notes:
- While the base game is grindy, DLC fixes this by giving you whole-party max-HP items and whole-party level-up items. I recommend using the max-HP items as soon as the game starts getting too hard for you, and the level-up items immediately before the final boss. Enemies hit like trucks by mid-game. If you don't need the max HP items, what planet are you from?
- The final boss is very difficult on Normal difficulty unless you use the level-up items mentioned above, or grind a lot. I boosted from level ~100 to ~130 and this made it a lot more fun. It still wasn't trivial, so don't worry about that.

Wildly complex, and has combat (one of several loss conditions), so it's very interesting to me. It's surprisingly fun to find ways to make your fortress more efficient. There are a few ways the game surprises you with trip-ups once your fortress gets going, just to keep things interesting. Also, this Steam version allows multiple saves, so you don't *have* to play it with permanent death by default if something goes wrong. (Losing a VID (Very Important Dwarf) late in your run may feel frustrating enough to quit, but now you can load back before disaster instead.)

If you think the fact that I think "it's poor design that most enemies one-shot most classes" is going to stop me from playing this game, honey, you got a big storm comin'

Very short, but a fun "escape room" type of game to play with a friend. No complaints compared to the original.
