The fast paced combat, unique art style and storytelling of this game are amazing. The game developers created the areas you explore, having two simple goals in their mind: non guided exploration and suitable areas for combat. In my opinion, this is how Metroidvania games should be created. You reach any secret or tricky area, just by exploring your surroundings gingerly, while other games of the same genre require an ability you gain later in the game. The combat style reminds me of the combat style Souls-like games have, but it's more simplistic. While in combat in Hyper Light Drifter, you use your Sword and your two Guns, combined with the ability to drift in any direction you want, you have an engaging combat style. I cannot recommend this game enough.
