36 Hours played
First and foremost, let me say that Killing Floor is one of my favorite franchises. I started all the way back with KF1, and when KF2 launched, I instantly bought it and have never really stopped playing it. I might not have the most hours in the game, but played it on and off throughout the years.

I was quite hyped for KF3, and initially on launch I had a 50/50 feeling. I liked some parts, disliked other parts. Nonetheless, I still had fun for the first 10–20 hours, partly because it felt refreshing, but also partly because I played with friends.

More and more however, I started to see through this initial hype. Let me start with the good parts.

Killing Floor 3 has much better movement mechanics which suit the game well. The graphics also got a nice boost and the game looks really good and the gore is also better than it ever was.

Sadly, there’s much more downsides. Starting off with the low map pool. KF3 only has 8 maps, and with the lack of the workshop support this is just not enough. Especially not because the maps are designed quite badly. In KF1 & 2 the maps were designed in such a way that running through them and kiting the ZED’s was the go-to move. In KF3 you just.. Camp in a hallway with the full team and that's it.

I also don't like the revamped weapon system. Making your own classes and weapon combinations seems fun at first, but it takes away from the game. The moment you need to google for best builds and need to grind loot to buy upgrades, you really take the core focus of just killing ZED’s with good music away.

But that’s not all. The most important of everything… Is the stability. The game runs like ♥♥♥♥, performance is low and there are lots of crashes. The game isn’t receiving a lot of updates either. Each patch that comes out breaks more than it fixes, and content is nowhere to be seen.

KF3 also launched with a lot less perks than KF2 or KF1. Which is not bad on itself, but considering everything I said above, this is just another downer.

Considering everything together, I just can’t recommend KF3 right now. The game has potential, but sadly it just doesn’t feel like a real Killing Floor game. This together with all the bad points I listed above, and the player count going downhill quickly, I would hold off and see where this game is in a couple of years. Just for the record, I did really try to like this game. I’m a massive fan and really wanted to like this one.
