Early Access Review
Update:

Wow, it's been a long time since I first played VRChat. My initial impression was that it was good for a laugh but overall pretty awful. Many years have passed and a lot has changed since then. I've racked up a lot more than 30+ hours too, but that's just my Steam playtime.

VRChat is an amazing mutiVeRse experience, but it needs a little user curation. That's you! You're the user! If you pop into a popular public club world, you're gonna see some cringe. There are many amazing worlds, visuals and sound, meditation, exploration, games, hangouts, and more.

VRChat is better with groups and friends. It only takes a little investment of time to have a lot of fun! It's even more fun with a VR headset, and these are very affordable now.

Early Access Review:

VRChat is somewhere in-between the furry cyber sex dungeon known as Second Life and the flaming heap of garbage that is IMVU. It's mostly an online meeting place for kids practicing dirty words for the first time and manchildren doing the same.

I stood in a doorway and repeatedly proclaimed, "NONE SHALL PASS!" but unfortunately because your body is incorporeal in this game, people can pass right through you and my warnings went unheeded. This is obviously a problem for the black knight. Perhaps, the black knight could do some stand-up in one of the many open-mic worlds. "What's the deal...with people passing?!"

It might potentially have some educational/academic value but you should probably keep your kids away from this unless you want them interacting with people who probably shouldn't be near children.

If you're extremely bored (and drunk) and prone to giggling at dirty words and have absolutely nothing else going on in your life then this is for you! But seriously, there are way better things you can do with your time.

So, I wrote this review a while ago. I've been getting into VR lately, and VRChat has definitely grown up a bit since I wrote this, however, it definitely requires curation and research to find the good experiences, and avoid the bad ones.

Bad news; the devs of VRChat are removing mods and are implementing a weak anti-cheat.

@CJ That seems like a pretty accurate description.

After seeing the Jontron video and the little piglet guy. I got tempted to try it. I'm very tempted to import some models as a joke that I've modified myself of certain characters. Hard to explain but the community looks like cancer but cancer in a possibly entertaining way.
