I wish to invite you all on a journey. A journey through one of the greatest games of all time; and quite possibly considered one of FromSoft's most spectacular masterpieces to date. Sekiro is an action RPG that is developed by the insane minds of FromSoft, you know the guys who made dark souls. The best way i can describe Sekiro on the most basic of levels is Japanese ninja Dark souls. But do not be fouled by my reference to the Dark Soul's games; while they same many similar qualities and much of the mechanics are borrowed from the Dark Soul's franchise (not all that surprising considering that they are made by the same developers), Sekiro continues to evolve the formula in ways that surprise me even to this day. Sekiro follows a shinobi named Wolf, and his adventure to reclaim his honor and save his young lord from bandits, with that said it quickly escalates to, without spoilers, mythological heights as you help in the young lords search to end the curse of dragon rot and immortality that is plaguing the land. You find your self traveling across a variety of terrains and encountering many unique vistas that can only be truly captured in the media of video games as a whole. Make no mistake as beautiful as this game is, it will kick your ass if you stare to long and forget to deflect an attack. Sekiro, like mentioned earlier, often times is compared to FromSoft's other masterpieces Dark Souls, Bloodborne, etc. but while it is a fair comparison to make; it is often misleading. The difficulty is there, heartache with each defeat; an unimaginable high from finally completing an encounter; frustration from the grind of trying over and over again. All core components to a game like this are most definitely here. But unlike FromSoft's other games, Sekiro puts an emphasis on stealth and precision that has never been seen before from this genre of game. Taking influence from games akin to Tenchu Z and Bloodborne, Sekiro offers a unique fast past open world where you truly feel like a great shinobi/ninja. The downside to this design choice however, is that Sekiro doesnt have nearly as much customization and optimization as its counterparts. Leveling is done by killing bosses to retrieve there combat memory with increases your attack damage and collecting prayer beads which increases maximum HP. Other that that you can buy upgrades for your shinobi prosthetic and edit a load out of usable items and prosthetic tools. Lastly on your adventure you will acquire a number of scrolls that provide new techniques for you to use. These can be learned by purchasing them with the games currency. Lastly, i wish to speak of my experience with this titles stability. I have never seen a game so complete and polished. Not one crash, maybe one T pose glitch in all of my 62 hours playing and maybe an audio glitch once or twice. Truly a masterpiece that deserves a fair shake from everyone who can play it.
