Early Access Review
Has begun the first steps towards overt monetization with the banning of mods. It's a goofy, fun little chat program, but uh, if you play it, know that it's gonna get commercialized pretty soon, so be prepared for basic features being locked behind paywalls and ads.

TBH, VRChat wasn't making money, so it's kind of a necessary evil, but I don't hold out the best of hope that the commercialization's not gonna turn this into a worse Second Life.

Slow, plodding combat, that somehow is worse then Diablo. The one that came out in '97. Story is so, so painfully boring, and it does the horrendous FTP thing where the first quest is running around town to find all the places where you can spend real money.

With a caveat: The game is in mantainence mode. There's no new sets coming, and spending money on the game would be a bit foolish.

HOWEVER, the PvE mode for this game is pretty fun. It's free, so all you'd be wasting is time; if you enjoy Magic the Gathering, I suggest you give this a go.

EDIT: As of 1/1/21, the game's servers are down. RIP Hex, the only trading card game with an actual PvE mode.

A hodgepodge of poorly explained systems in a mediocre combat system makes this game more of a research project then a game. If you're into that, this game might be for you.

I'm not into that. I enjoy being able to actually play the games I've bought, not be stuck learning through some guy's youtube videos about them, and then still not being able to be effective.

Also, this game is the type where every fight is a bossfight. If you enjoy fighting the same enemy for thirty minutes without any change in mechanics, just slogging through the creatures HP, and then getting frustrated when they escape and heal with absolutely no way to prevent this from happening, more power to you. If you don't, well, don't buy the game.

Like every other Arc System Works games, stay far the ♥♥♥♥ away fomr the aggrivating tutorials. Watch youtube or something.

That out of the way, like other Arc System Works games, it's a collection of mechanics stapled together from teh long list of Arc System Works Games. Like most Arc System Works Games, most comboes are exercises in how fast you can waggle your stick in a million different motions.

So, if you like Arc System Works-style games, it's okay. If you don't, well, there's a solid reason why Street Fight, Mortal Combat, and Injustice have more populated fighting communities.
