Game's great, Beyond is great, but it doesn't change the fact that the trial and error of learning the game is not worth it. At high level it's very cool to watch and I'm sure to play, but due to the early failure of the game the resources to learn are negligible and the active playerbase has already transcended what there is. It's a game that really only exists to play competitively - the casual scene, as with many non current gen fighting games, is limited to a lacklustre story mode and an arcade mode.

Mods can't fix everything. The disgusting textures and shadows, lack of animations like opening doors and simple moving, the worst combat in any VR game I've ever played and a confusing menu system will always remain.

Oh man, this game, so much wasted potential.

Icons was a game that shouldn't have remotely failed. It was the perfect storm. Ex-Project M developers coming together to make the platform fighter Nintendo wouldn't. Wavedashing, L-cancelling, moonwalking and more. This was to be the new melee. The new game at tournaments instead of PM. The perfect platform fighter.

Then they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it completely. In an early access, 4/7 characters cost money. Lootboxes were announced before a European release. Not even 10 characters are expected to be released by launch. The game feels fine to play, but it's coated in this fine mist of disappointment that I couldn't bring myself to touch it after 4 hours of offline gameplay. It's so bad I can't even enjoy this with a few mates on the sofa. Don't buy this game, treat yourself to the £5 loss and get Slap City. The devs are much less likely to abandon it.

Also, despite a year long closed beta, the game still isn't avaliable for European and AUS players.

The best crossover fighting game ever made. All of the issues (fullscreen bug, AMD issue) have been apparently fixed at the time of posting. The game is fresh and exciting and has the best tag mechanic I've seen for a while. Lots of these negative reviews are about now fixed problems or kids that don't know why DLC for fighting games is so important. 100% must buy,
