Hello UIC DOTERS!!

I hope your semester started well enough, so let's get down to business right away this semester if we wanna be successful and actually have fun before the midterms, or finals, or whatnot come! We only gonna have about 2 General Body Meetings this semester, so it's crucial that you guys actually come to those, because there might not be any other time that I see you guys in person. The first and introductory meeting is going to be this Friday(tomorrow) September 2nd from 6 pm to 7 pm in the Illinois Room at SCE. I will try and bring my computer with all the hardware to the meeting so we can set something like a DOTA 2 table there, so I hope i see most of you there tomorrow, so that all of my efforts are not in vain(it really is a pain in the ass to get my whole setup over there). Also bring your own gear to the meeting, we might even be able to run a few mini games, if I somehow get an Ethernet cable connection to my desktop. But if not, we can always just show the game to other people(UI/BOTs), and get more people into the DOTA 2 community here at UIC.

Thanks to everybody who to decided to spend most of their weekend on trying out for the UIC Dota 2 Team. I really appreciated that!

Tini (your coach) and I decided that in this particular situation that we are in right now, it would be best to have only 1 team, because our 10th player would probably not have enough time to practice regularly with the team every day from now on. We also decided that we will just follow the format of the AVGL tourney for now, and keep all 9 players on the team. The possibility of us getting 2 teams together later on is way higher than me just letting other 4 people go.

So, here are the people who made it, and people who are going to be subs for now.

People who are SUBS!!! I definitely can't force anybody to do anything here, and if you think you are better than just a sub on some UIC Dota 2 team, I will understand that, but I would really like to see you maybe not at every practice, but at least at every other practice, so that we could keep setting up lobbies in the future and gain more experience that way. ### If Tini or I see a visible improvement in your subs' game play, we will definitely switch you with the other player in your respective position on the main roster. So, roster players, remember that!!! And then also, whenever our roster players can't make it to the game, we want to be 100% confident in your subs' level of play.

And for those who didn't tryout or didn't finish trying out, please don't do anything with the link, in order to avoid the chaos. smile emoticon We will probably not have any set time for today (Monday 25th), because not everybody is going to be able to get to Doodle Poll site on time, but starting tomorrow (Tuesday 26th), we will have our first practice with a set time. So, I strongly encourage everybody to fill it out by the end of the day today, so that we have a schedule set up for this week.

Psss, if you want to play Dota 2 today, a bunch of people are going to be up, just go online and play, it doesn't need to be 'practice time' to practice your skills.

First Day of Tryouts went pretty well, I believe, although if everybody managed to show up on time, and stay up for every game played, would have been much better. Those people who only played one game, left early, or didn't come at all, and do the same thing today would be kicked from tryouts! (!!!) So please stop being an irresponsible little ♥♥♥♥♥ and fkn show up!

Moving on to the second day of tryouts, which is going to be today starting at 7 and ending around 11. So, hopefully we can get at least three more games in there. After looking at some of the few replays that I managed to get together yesterday, this is how the teams gonna look like on the second day of tryouts. (temporary rosters)

!!! For all the people that are going to be spectators for some of these games I strongly encourage you not to go eat for the entire length of the game or go do whatever, I strongly encourage you to look through all 4 games' rosters and see who you gonna replace, because these are the people I am going to compare you to. While you look at other people, you can see what mistakes they made and figure out how CAN YOU avoid them, which would make you a better player at that specific role and make you stand out, consequently making you the active player on the roster and not just a sub.

Attention!!!

First mandatory practice is going to be this Saturday (Jan 23rd/tomorrow) from 6 pm to whenever we finish, probably gonna play around 4 to 5 games. The fact that you agreed to play/join AVGL doesn't mean that you will be able to play. The first two to three days we will finilize the team rosters and find out who will actually play and who is gonna stay as a sub.

For all the people who still didn't tell me whether they would like join or those who are down but still didn't sign up on AVGL, please do so by the end of today (Jan 22nd) or 6 pm tomorrow (Jan 23rd), and when you sign up, send me a text about what your name is on AVGL. For those who signed up, make sure you accept my team invitation, the same goes for all the others who are going to sign up today or tomorrow.

We are going to be using MUMBLE for our in-game communications, and we were fortunate to have one of the players on the team having a mumble server. So, here are the directions:

1) Download it(Google)

2) Install it, and set it up correctly adjusting all the mic and speaker volumes, so that you can actually use it later#!!

3) Here are the directions on finding a new server, the one we all gonna be on.

It might ask you something about a certificate, just set it to automatic and say yes when it says something about a failure in authorizing.

Then join the lobby that has a player PSI, or me(BRKz) in it.

4) Just a reminder for everybody, whoever thinks that he is good enough and thinks about going pro/competitive, you absolutely need to have decent headphones and a mic, with no major statics in sound that is. Typing in chat something during one of the most important in your lives is just not gonna cut it anymore. But then, it is not certain that all of you are gonna make the A and B teams, so think twice before getting anything expensive or anything at all in general.

For all the people that for some reason can't sign up on AVGL at the moment, or think that they won't be able to make it to the first practice tomorrow, please send me a message either on steam or Facebook describing when, how, and why you won't be able to make it. I might be able to work something out for you, but missing too many practices.... well you all know what comes after, right??

I think this is an awesome opportunity for our newly created Dota 2 club at UIC, first of all because we didn't participate in any of the tournaments in the past, second of because it's free to enter, and third of all because we still don't have neither an A team or a B team. So, I think this is a good place to get them all started. You should all definitely go check it out, and if you are interested in actually joining the tourney and representing the UIC squad, or just going competitive in general, leave a message down below., or you can just register yourself on AVGL.

I will register and do whatever else needs to be done, all I need to know is who is interested. The rest of the information can be found on the website. 'Tryouts' will be done during the first 7 weeks of the event, because the roster lock only on the 8th week, and multiple teams of 9 players are allowed from the same university. So, if we don't win, at least we gonna have some idea of who is going to be on the A and B competitive teams representing UIC Dota 2.

I am also open to team name suggestions, because naming us UICDota2 is lame af.
