What's with the + on mesa? Is it different than the upstream release?

I couldn't find libav in the repo either, do you mean libavc?

Anyway, thanks for the update. It's nice to finally see the driver updates rolling out.

AMD still shitty with Radeon HD5450
The Mesa releases come from this tree[github.com], we cherry-pick and add additional patches on top of the official point releases; for this release we have added some minor fixes and the threaded compilation patchset.
Can you describe exactly what issues you're running into with your AMD graphics?
Any chance of optimus working OOTB?
We've made some changes that let Intel graphics function properly in Optimus configurations, which was a step up from just getting a black screen. If you're not getting a working session at all out of the box let me know as this would be a bug.

The only thing you should need to do then would be to install the primus and bumblebee packages from the Debian repository. Having them bundled and ready to use would be nice, but it isn't a big priority right now as none of the Steam machines are Optimus configurations.
how do I update my SteamOS? I'm still in version 1.0.0 was the first version that came out and not updated to the latest 1.0.5. I would love to upgrade and whether the system will be possible to be some LibraOffice?

You can either use the desktop to install it like this:
  1. In SteamOS go to Settings -> Interface and tick the checkbox for "Enable access to the Linux desktop"
  2. Then go to Exit and pick "Switch to Desktop mode"
  3. On the desktop move your mouse to the top left corner, type terminal and press enter.
  4. Use this command to set a password for the desktop user:
    passwd
  5. Now install the beta repo package with:
    sudo apt-get install steamos-beta-repo -y
Or use a different tty, which is a bit faster:
  1. Press ctrl+alt+F3.
  2. Use the log in with the login name desktop.
  3. Set the password for the desktop user with:
    passwd
  4. Install the steamos-beta-repo package with this command:
    sudo apt-get install steamos-beta-repo -y
  5. Return to SteamOS with ctrl+alt+F7

Then all you have to do is reboot the system and you will be in the beta.

Awesome update, at last 337 for nvidia.
Awesome news!

@Pierre-Loup,
Out of interest sake, when will alsa/kernel modules be updated so that 5.1 audio works over HDMI on the NVidia Maxwell cards like the GTX 750?
Installed the 120 update , but I keep getting the message that steamos needs a reboot to apply the changes (the envelope icon) .
I have rebooted 5 times and cold restarted the steamos machine now , but still gives me the same message ..

In home streaming seems broken for me too .

The applying of updates on shutdown is pretty bad . I had a black screen and didn't know what was going on . I expected my steamos to reboot but it didn't (as it was busy) . I almost wanted to pull the power (I thought it hung) .

libav - latest upstream release
This is incorrect, there is no libav in the SteamOS repo. There is however libavc1394, why is that?
The description for libavc1394:
control IEEE 1394 audio/video devices (utilities)
libavc1394 is a programming interface for the 1394 Trade Association AV/C
(Audio/Video Control) Digital Interface Command Set. It allows you to
remote control camcorders and similar devices connected to your computer
via an IEEE 1394 (aka Firewire) link.
Doesn't seem very useful, I don't think many people use firewire these days. Libav would've been great though, which can be used for video playback, streaming and recording.

SteamOS recent changes borked upgrades.

First, the updates are done at shutdown or restart, but when updates are happening there's no indication on the screen that an update is in progress, only a black screen, so we have no clue what's going on.

Second, this particular update have the problem you described. A mail icon with the instruction to restart. You restart and there's the same icon.
This is due to mesa upgrade not installing. So you have to go to terminal and first type "sudo apt-get update" and "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade".
Follow this steps and SteamOS is fully upgraded now.
