A Damn Fine Group Of Gamers

Welcome to The Roadhouse! This is a place to discuss all things Twin Peaks. My goal for this group is for it to become Steam's go-to social hub for discussing the original series, the new 2017 season, as well as Twin Peaks inspired video games. There are many great games that the series has inspired, so there's plenty to talk about...don't be shy!

The "Associated Games" that you see on the right are mostly confirmed by the developers to be inspired by Twin Peaks. Many are very well known to be and the connections are obvious. Some of them don't advertise it, but have Twin Peaks easter eggs or references (Ion Maiden, Evil Within 2, Sally Face). A few are some that I *think* are probably inspired by Twin Peaks, but I can't be so sure...I defintely get a Twin Peaks vibe when playing though (Secret World Legends, The Black Watchmen, Kona).

Group Rules

I'll keep this brief because I don't believe in too many restrictions or censorship. Obviously, the Steam Rules and Guidelines apply in this group. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4045-USHJ-3810

On top of that, I just have a few basic expectations and requests of the members:

1. Please mark any potential spoilers as such (black them out), even when discussing spoilers from the original series and older associated games. I expect there will be new-comers to the Twin Peaks series as well as the vast array of games we talk about.

2. Utilize basic common courtesy and common sense. Your sense of humor is welcome, but any bullies or trolls will be banned.

3. While you don't have to be a hardcore fan of Twin Peaks to join, if your intention is to just bash the series...might as well not join at all.

Enough of that stuff, let's nerd out on some Twin Peaks! :D

RIP David Lynch: January 20, 1946 - January 16, 2025

A very sad day for Twin Peaks and David Lynch fans. Condolences to his family.

In an August 2024 interview with Sight and Sound, Lynch said he was suffering from emphysema due to years of smoking, and had become housebound due to health risks. He said this would likely preclude any further directorial projects.

In November 2024, Lynch told People that he quit smoking in 2022, following his emphysema diagnosis, and that he had started smoking when he was 8. He said he was reliant on supplemental oxygen for most daily activities. "I can hardly walk across a room", he said.

In January 2025, Lynch evacuated his Los Angeles home due to the Southern California wildfires; Deadline Hollywood reported that these events preceded a terminal decline in his health, and on January 16, 2025, Lynch's family announced that he had died at the age of 78.

Piper died in Los Angeles on October 14, 2023, at the age of 91.

BIO:

Piper Laurie is an American actress who appeared in Twin Peaks as Catherine Martell, a role which earned her a Golden Globe. She appeared in the 2017 series through the use of archive footage. When portraying Mr. Tojamura prior to his reveal as Catherine, Laurie was credited as Fumio Yamaguchi. She is best known for her roles in the films The Hustler (1961), Carrie (1976), and Children of a Lesser God (1986).

Laurie agreed to play Catherine because she had seen all of David Lynch's work and wanted to have a chance to work with him. She thought the pilot would be a fun one-off film to do since she didn't know that it would be picked up to series. For her performance as Catherine, Laurie won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries or television film (for which Sherilyn Fenn was also nominated for her performance as Audrey Horne) and was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

At one point, Lynch considered asking Laurie to reprise her role in The Return, but he never did because he couldn't come up with a believable way for Catherine to be a part of the storyline. She did, however, appear through the use of archive footage. Nevertheless, Laurie would have been happy to return.

While I'm Yapping about Captain Beefheart there is a an 12 minute long dvd documentary about Beefheart that most people probably doesn't know about called "Some Yo Yo Stuff" by Anton Corbiijn. David Lynch is also in it. Very odd little art documentary about the American musician. heres a link for the full 12 minutes :)

No problem and thank you for sharing that link as well as the internet archive certainly is a better solution than the other one. Internet archive is by the way a pretty great site, havent used it in recent years but remember finding some weird stuff in there over the years, probably Tom waits or captain beefheart related concerts or something :)

Guilherme sorry missed your reply earlier but I wouldn't bet my money on it, The day his death had been anounced i read up a bit on Lynch'es works and found out that he had made an i'll fated sitcom from 1992 that had only been screened in tv and has never been released on any original media except for on laser disc in Japan called Open Air. Heres the link for the intro and beneath it theres a link for the downloadable 7 episodes that isnt avaiable anywhere to buy nowadays but with japanese subtitles in em but maybe some of you guys wanna give em a try but i havent tested em out yet myself though so it will be on your own risk if you do so.
