Now, before you talk about any other class, let me explain. Besides airshots, goomba stomps, and specific class weps, let us look at the Soldier class on its own. Soldier carries a shotgun, shovel and rocket launcher.. The shovel, standard melee wep. Shotgun, standard secondary slot wep. The rocket launcher however, which is the primary wep and symbol for the Soldier requires no skill whatsoever..

If you want to get kills with the rocket launcher, it doesn't take much moving first of all.. Though it does less damage from farther away, you can still take out nearly any class with in a couple of hits in the right position. If the soldier is within a foot away from you, he can easily destroy you, and this isn't even including crits.. Even a pyro, who has the ability of airblasting the rockets, doesn't have the functionality to effectively airblast a rocket from that distance without recieving splash damage.


The first three classes you would expect to have the least amount of skill to play successfully would be:

1.Heavy
2.Engineer
3.Pyro

Though he specializes in miniguns and begins with more health than any other class in the game, Heavy takes a fair amount of strategy to play successfully. Also, Heavy is built to fight against buildings in the first place. Heavy is also very slow, making him vulnerable to every class and not just the Spy. Also, ammo runs out quick, so maintaining a decent amount of ammo is a must.

Engineer takes a little bit of strategy to play. Engineer is constantly on the watch for Spies, always rebuilding buildings, and he is vulnerable without his sentry. Planning where to place his building without being taken over requires a little bit of thinking. Enough said.

Yes, Pyro can spray its fire where ever it wants to, but Pyro can also be a skillful class to play. Airblasting can put out burning team mates, delay explosions, and create a window for other players to strike. Spy checking is also a great help to Engineers, on and off the battlefield. Also, with the right angle, a Pyro can easily destroy sentries.

Soldier.. Sure he can use his explosives to jump, but so can Demoman.. Demoman and Heavy can take down a sentry just as fast as Soldier.. Most times you run into a soldier, you don't come out alive due to his bullshittery (crits and close combat rockets..). I don't hate soldier, I'm just saying that the standard Soldier functions are easy to use and EVERYONE can play as him substantially well.
