ABOUT Diesel-Electric Works

Proudly producing & innovating since 1913.

Diesel-Electirc Works Co. Was founded by Italian immigrant R. F. Mozer in 1913, originally intended for repair & servicing of diesel generator motors generating electricity for the city of Dallas. In the height of WWI in 1917, Diesel-Electirc works was contracted by the U.S. Department of Defense to develop an armored infantry fighting vehicle. Their first prototype featured a rotating turret housing a low-velocity 37mm cannon (or .30 calliber machine gun) in the middle, a 95 horsepower V8 diesel engine at the back, and hull-mounted 75mm howitzer in the front. The design was highly successful in trials, but never adopted by the U.S. Military. After many flawed and non-successful designs, in World War II, Diesel-Electirc Works had developed a highly agile, reliable, and powerful 40 ton anti-tank vehicle (or Tank Destroyer). The design was highly favorable over the similar tank, the M18 Hellcat. After the war, Diesel-Electirc Works had developed over 15,000 different armored vehicles. During the economic boom in the 1950s, Diesel-Electric Works had begun development of a series of Diesel-Electirc Locomotive products, beginning with the MPD-900 Road Switcher. They continued development of armored vehicles, but the real sales were in the railroad department. Later, in 1985, Diesel-Electric Works had finally worked out a brand new armored vehicle that still serves proudly in the Armored Corps to this date. The MAS60120 Main Battle Tank. This vehicle was created by the newly-formed company owned by Diesel-Electric Works, Mozer Armored Systems. Together, the two companes have earned reputation across the entire world for their amazing, revolutionary products. Currently, there is a museum deticated to this innovative company right outside the Diesel-Electric Works Headquarters in Fort Worth, TX.
