Can't import SMD?
Just installed the Source Tools (latest release) and every time I try to open an .SMD file I just get this

It's annoying me like hell, I can import the .obj fine but the SMD wont work :-( Help

If it's not against Steam's rules (nudity and/or a model from a paid-for game (piracy)) and isn't illegal (a model from a paid-for game (piracy)), it might be a good idea to link to the SMD file here for us to examine ourselves.

It looks like the file contains text which is neither ASCII nor Unicode. It'll be the name of a bone or material. You could try opening the file in a text editor and removing anything that appears corrupted.

There was a bunch of characters with like, accents and stuff, should I remove those? I know when my PC locale changed it messed up a bunch of things.

That sounds like the bad stuff. Replace each corrupt block of text with something else.
