Yeah, and the internet is full of warnings asking people to burn the letters and never respond to them. The way how they do this anti-piracy is absolutely disgusting. And the 5 people they sued were only sued to show people that they take action; they didn't care about winning the lawsuit. They're just trying to put people in panic mode.

It's not a punishment. It's not a letter from the police department.
It's simply a letter from an outside organization that represents the IP owner, threatening people. They've send so many letters and many of them are incorrect too.

If you mean the owners of the IP a person has pirated, they have full rights to take legal action upon an individual or business that have illegally obtained anything they own.

I'm fully aware that they have all the rights to take legal action, but I don't feel like sending 100,000 letters threatening to sue and asking for fee, and only ending up suing like 5 people is very acceotable behavior.
