Also a bug report - Expert Skirmish DLC does not install with JP version (missing DLC_004_JA.CPK)
It also gives a message about extras content failing when you load a save.

When you install JP version, My XB360 gamepad automatically swapped keys (B for confirm, A for back). I presume it has to do with PS4 controls. Keyboard binds are respected correctly.

We are unable to repro your first reported bug. Can you please ensure the DLC is enabled in your game library and verify your game files?

The button reversal is by design, as that is the standard button layout for Japanese controllers.

I also tried going back and forth between En/JP and even threw German into the mix. Only JP is missing the archive, En/Ger versions download it normally Maybe some sort of license issue?

Great news, however it seems like only versions bought through steam directly support Japanese according to this:

Ex Skirmishes got fixed for me. Even properly got my ranks on a save that was made with "broken" loading.

You need to change language settings via Steam, not in-game to redownload JA resources in place of EN.

When buying at a retail store, Japanese seems not to be used.

Same problem here, added the game via a Steam key but there seems to be no option to enable Japanese language other than for audio. Considering that it's sort of what has been advertised in the update in January https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/games/790820/announcements/detail/1730974047946218750 and also sort of what I bought the game for, it'd be nice if this got addressed/fixed.

Edit 04/16: Japanese language option magically appeared in my settings and seems to be working just fine. Can't tell for sure whether it was a sneak fix, but thumbs up!

I rebought the game this time with a third party (GMG) and it didn't have Japanese text available. I got this resolved when I contacted Sega support and provided them with my steam ID.
