Game seems very RNG now
Been playing since official release, not a 2k player by any means. but Ive noticed them complain about cards defining matches too often.

Matches seemed like something you could react to, people played different things.
Now its entirely up to the cards, I can be winning for 6 rounds, bad card = game over
Losing for 6 rounds? I get a good card and he cant counter in time.

Will come back later in the season after patches or maybe next season but even for a mid level player the card-rng has taken over and this doesnt feel very strategic anymore.

Looks like "I lost a game and now I'm salty about it to the point I will make a post on forums" case :steamsalty:

what a lame take. both players get the CHOICE from the same cards! if a player picks a 'bad card' for that particular game, that's on them. and that's the difference between players like yourself and the best players in the world - who do not complain about any such thing.

I refuse to be defined by the cards given to me at start. I choose what Card I am and I identify as an Ace of Spades!
well yeah lol. you pick a card thats not very good for the situation or compared to whats available of course thats gonna lead to a loss
same with you pick a card and your opponent does the latter your gonna win

its like blaming the ball for you missing the shot with it

also winning for 6 rounds means you win on the 6th or even the 5th
otherwise your not winning the rounds
hp is a resource you can spend. take a few early losses for a bigger swing kind of deal

This.

Also, to the OP, picking a bad card does not mean a loss. It's still up to each individual player to play the game and win it. My baby girl woke up the other night and started crying, so I had to go get her and feed her (Mama was in town so Daddy was on the hook for baby duty). By the time I got back, not only had my card been selected automatically, but I also missed the entire first round and lost it AND my opportunity to place units.

I won the game though. My opponent made mistakes and I came back from a huge disadvantage to win. You just have to stay sharp and make good choices. You might get outplayed, but if that's the case, the card probably wouldn't have mattered anyways. The only time the cards will matter will be if you and your opponent are VERY evenly matched. Otherwise, the better player is simply going to win.

Maybe the best solution is to provide options for any game. Players can choose a game with cards or without cards. That way we can see who really win due to expertise and who win due to pure luck from cards.

No, we don't need a duplicate game mode that only differentiates itself by eliminating cards.
still insisting the players picking from the exact same group of cards is nothing but RNG luck, is wild, and dare I say, ignorant. do better.

What if it was a vote on match start where if both players vote no rng cards then there wont be cards for that match, but if only one votes no then it defaults to having the card drops. So its not a duplicate gamemode, people that dont want rng can agree to not have it and those who do want it will get it and the devs can get a better feel for what the community wants by just looking at the stats of how many people vote no or yes to rng.

how about not making the game more complicated and wasting time with votes.

yes, the offering of cards is RNG, but allowing both players to choose from the same set of cards is democratic and strategic. players complaining about the cards are either upset because they keep losing games by picking bad cards, or they want no RNG at all and instead want Mechabellum to be a chess-like autobattler (which seems like an oxymoron to me).

It wouldnt be very complicated or take any time, just a button above the commander cards that says 'clicking this means you dont want unit or card drops in later rounds this will take effect if both people click this' and that button can stick around through the first round next to the prediction button if you need time to think or chat with the other guy.

Yes choosing from the same cards is a strategic element which makes the game more complex, thats not a bad thing but not everyone wants that. It is possible for you to get a selection of cards which dont help you at all but which can improve your opponents odds of winning which you then need to play around making the match harder for you. You might like that and other people don't, why not give people who dont like it the option to not have it?

That's reasonable.

If cards are the deciding factor on your win or loss, then you must not be very good at this game.

If anyone brings up the rng, it's always a small handfull of people piling up defending the rng.

and it's always the same handful of people complaining about it. what's your point? you think the Mechabellum forums are an accurate reflection of the total player base, especially considering there are servers and players all over the world? come on, man. common sense doesn't need to be repeated by dozens of different ppl to make it more sensible. it is what it is.

obviously we're on different sides of the issue. but of all the mechabellum streams and vids I watch/spectate, I never hear any of the top ranked players in the world complain about the 'RNG' of cards. in the early stages of the game development it was an issue, but it's gotten a lot better and continues to improve. it's not going away.
