Tremere Clan Trailer

Today, we bring you a new glimpse into the Clan of Warlocks. Meet the Tremere characters of Seattle and see Phyre's magic in action.

Tremere starts with "Dominate" and "Blood Sorcery" as clan affinities, and "Corrosive Touch" as the passive ability. Then, as the game progresses, you'll be able to unlock the following Tremere disciplines:

"Blood Curse": Curses the opponent to swell up and explode after receiving damage.

"Cauldron of Blood": Boil a person's blood. Their screams will draw others close.

"Recall": Mark your current position. Use again to return to that position.

"Blood Salvo": Conjure a set of blood daggers that can be thrown at enemies.

"Blood of Potency" - Clan Perk: A chance when feeding that the last used ability receives twice as much blood, increasing the rate at which you can perform abilities.

Today we bring you a new glimpse into the Clan of Kings, the Ventrue clan!

Meet the Ventrue characters of Seattle and see Phyre's powers in action. Ventrue starts with "Dominate" and "Presence" as clan affinities, and "Flesh of Marble" as the passive ability.

Then as the game progresses you'll be able to unlock the following Ventrue disciplines:

"Terminal Decree": Command a mortal to kill themselves.

"Possession": See through enemy's eyes and control them for a period.

"Cloud Memory": Cause a target to forget you were there.

"Mass Manipulation": Apply Ventrue and Affect abilities to all enemies within view.

"Resilience" - Clan Perk: Increases the amount of health restored by feeding.

Play as Fabien in both 1920s Seattle and modern-day Seattle to uncover what happened to him, and how it ties in with the Nomad.

Combat doesn't look too simple

After watching some streams again, I think even criticism about overly simplistic combat is quite wrong. I guess it could be possible to just punch and get beaten on (at least it is in the tutorial section, but the player still loses quite a bit of hp pretty quickly that way), but if we want to have any kind of cinematic quality in combat, we will be required to dodge and mix attacks adeptly. Mixing in strong with quick attacks, creating space, dodging quickly, throwing things, pulling enemies with telek...

So about the PCGamer article...

https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/bloodlines-2-narrative-director-tries-to-get-players-to-lower-their-expectations-patiently-explains-its-not-going-to-have-the-scale-of-baldurs-gate-3-or-grand-theft-auto/ I don't think any sane person is/was expecting this to have the scale of BG3 or GTA, but it SHOULD have at LEAST had the scale of the original Bloodlines. Weird thought I'm sure. Given what I've seen of the game to turn me off considering to buy it, I don't even see the potential scale of the original ...

Do not buy this game.

Originally, the game was being developed by Hardsuit Labs with expectations of a deep, stat-heavy RPG similar to the original. They have every intention of making a true successor worthy of its name. Development was eventually taken over by The Chinese Room in 2023, a studio known for narrative-driven, atmospheric experiences rather than open-ended RPG mechanics which the first game was successful for. They rebuilt the entire codebase and gameplay mechanics, leaving only the levels and art style intact. ...
