Who else have more fun with guns in RPGs rather than actual shooters?
When I use guns in games like this, I'm really having fun. Sniper rifle makes me feel like a thunder from the sky, delivering death from afar. Shotgun makes me feel like a close combat badass, turning his foes into mincemeat with buckshot. Pistols make me feel like a mighty gunslinger straight from the Western tales

But when I use all this in FPS games... They're just boring for me. Half life, Far Cry, DOOM, Quake, Left 4 Dead, you name it. Alll ojectively good FPS games don't make me feel same levels of fun

I am really curious, whoo else feels same way?

I love RPGs like Fall-out more for their tactical depth. Planning; positioning; risk-assessment...

I do have the sort of fun you're describing with Doom 2, a couple modifications and the superb Z Doom engine and Obsidian level-generator (no relation to FONV's Obsidian).

I get what you mean though, games like Half Life and L4D aren't really about the visceral impact of gun-play more than have it serve a larger purpose but I'd argue there's some FPS that deliver that better than an isometric, third-view game from the 90s could ever do.

Maybe FEAR is another good example. People usually remember it as "that horror game with the little girl" but man that one was really about the action, with the horror as a back-drop.

i mean if your idea of shooting a gun is waiting for your turn then sure. you might wana give mass effect a shot if you want more tactical squad based combat. i like the gunplay in mass effect cause you can slow down time and take cover. also you command 2 squadies
