Disclaimer: This review isn't directed toward big-time CRPG fans. If you really enjoy CRPGs then Tyranny is probably right up your alley, so go for it. I'm writing for the filthy casuals like me who played through and loved BG3 and got curious about playing a similar game.

Started this up and was immediately put off by the inventory/equipment management and the real-time pauseable combat. I didn't understand how this game was so highly rated with such janky combat and UI and figured it was just a skill issue.

I really didn't want to spend much time figuring out if it gets better/more intuitive or not, nor did I want to just talk out my ass if I'm gonna leave a review, so what I did was look at negative reviews left by people with 20+ hours. Looks like the consensus among the haters who've earned the right to hate is that yup, the combat is bad, the inventory is bad. I'm pretty sure that even when this came out in 2016 it would've felt dated and tedious.

One of the only RPGs where you can play AS the bad guy and not just a good guy who happens to be a jerk. Putting yourself in the shoes of an evil overlord enforcer, you choose if you're a good man in a bad world, or a bad man in a bad world.
