One of the most fun games ever, even better with friends who you want to lose. Really fun. unique, lots of fun and exciting gameplay mechanics and a consistent style with a million little details and a setting in which you even want to roleplay the Lord of Hell.

I was an early tester for this game (and followed the whole development process closely, both before and after launch), so don't let my few couple of minutes of gameplay give you the wrong idea about this review.

I love videogames, ever since I can remember it. I grew up with them. They are integral part of my life insofar as I don't refer to playing videogames as a hobby or some regular pastime activity. No: I think of it as a part of my body, a section of my brain, an atrium of my heart, or a side of my lung. I express myself through them; I learn with them; I cry with them; I laugh with them.

That being said, it shouldn't come as a surprise that I take this matter quite seriously. I hoard games like I hoard books. There are more than I can count, and there should always be more at any given point in time than I have already played (or read). In such vast universe of specimen, however, not all that glitters is gold. Some games are brilliant, unique, true works of art in the most literal sense of the word; other are excellent, a work well done by a good team of developers; others are simply good, enough to satisfy the appetite for something simpler, without the intention of reaching any higher; while others, unfortunately, are trash, garbage, dump, truly worthless material, made by either incompetent or greedy schmucks who are always looking for the next opportunity to make a quick penny at the unwise consumer's expense.

Alright, now that we got all that out of the way, let me just say: I love this game to bits. Yes, you read that right. I don't like it, I don't appreciate it, I LOVE it. Every sound I hear, every image my eyes behold, every transtition, every click, every UI, every mechanic. It's a masterpiece, but it's not just a masterpiece: it's one made by some of the most passionate and brilliant developers I have heard of (and had the pleasure to follow the work) in a long, long time. Not only did they put upon themselves the daunting task of developing a remake of a classic, albeit truly archaic and almost entirely forgotten title of the strategy genre, but they went beyond it.

Not satisfied with bringing it up to modern standards, they revised, and they innovated. And from what was an obscure icon of a long-forgotten era of PC gaming, they built this monument to stand the test of time. And it's not just about the looks or the amount of content or the replayability value. It's about the polish, how smooth everyhing feels, how clean everything looks, how fast everything loads. The devil here truly is in the details (no pun intended): every description, every snippet of lore, every animation, every design. This, my friends, was neither the work of amateurs lost in the throes of ambitions or scoundrels looking for a quick buck. This was the work of genius, and I'm eternally grateful that these devs got the opportunity to offer such rare art to the public.

To those of us who already own the game, I salute and congratulate you on your fine taste. To those still wondering whether to buy or not, I suppose my long explanation may have already made your mind. And, finally, to the developers, my most heartfelt commendation. I sincerely hope, with all my might, that you one day may be so fortunate as to find that golden opportunity to come back to actively working on this game. Its potential is gigantic, and one can only imagine where it could lead next.

It is extremely random for a strategy game. Plus it has very limited action points per turn (two by default) and you need an cation point for every sneeze, UI is overcomplicated.
