Blender already surpassed SFM even 12 years ago when SFM was released officially.

I've just noticed content creators on Youtube using it now, they used to use SFM before switching over.

Makes sense. Blender is just objectively better when it comes to quality.
i mean not really? sfm is still great for beginners who just want to make posters and dont want to learn blender
To be honest, SFM is easier to use, but Blender looks better. However, it only looks better by just a tiny bit. In conclusion, no, Blender has not completely made SFM obsolete.

blender is one of those things where if you're starting out and deciding on a program, just pick up blender because it's infinitely more useful. SFM is setting a hard limit on yourself. sure, it's easier to pick up, but the moment you need to do anything custom, or you need a little more control of your model, everything falls apart because that REQUIRES blender knowledge. it makes zero sense to make something, only to painstakingly port it to a program that gives you less control over it.
with addons like SourceIO being a thing now, there's even less reason to use SFM.
Short answer; no.
SFM is a lot more easier to use than Blender, personally.
obviously but some of em still use sfm. doesn't rly matter if u use either of those

SFM is very easy to learn to use, Blender is complicated to use but it has more things that make it much better than sfm.
That doesn't make SFM obsolete, you can make stuff with a such incredible quality as Blender, but it will be a torture due to its limitations. :p2cube:

As a blender user coming to SFM for the first time...

it would be good for a starter animation website, and it's easier to import models into, but...

If you already know the basics of animation?

Move to blender. Or, hell, even roblox.

I've tried many animation sites, both 2D and 3D, and blender is one of the easiest to use. Well, except for it's outdated texturing

Where should I start if I know next to nothing about 3D modeling or video making if they have the tools?

Does Blender provide guides on how to do anything?

you don't need to learn 3D modelling if you want to use it like SFM. there's an addon called SourceIO that lets you import any model / map from the workshop and you can use it just like SFM, only better

Okay, thanks. How about if I want to make my own 3D models from scratch? That's kind of what I meant by that last comment.

Learn sculpting and retopology, but nothing based on a specific item or character. Learn how to use the tools, not how to follow someone's footsteps.
Blender is in its ways, better than SFM (And vice versa, but SFM is not that much better tbh)

However, Blender just can't get that source engine feel at least some of us love so much.
