HDMI signal not detected
Issue: Official dock does not always output HDMI signal.

Issue only seems to appear with official dock.

As it happens randomly, I don’t know how it can be recreated. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

I have followed all troubleshooting provided by support with no resolve, and was told to post it here.

It doesn’t matter if the Deck is powered on before or after connecting to the dock.

The only (temporary) fix I have found is to unplug the PSU from the dock until the signal is detected, then plug the PSU back in. Issue returns next time the dock is used.

Had to RMA my first dock, same issue, got a second dock, and again same issues. I even reimaged my device. At this point I'm just pissed off.

What did support say this time?

Same problem here with my 4k LG TV (50NANO819PA). I often have no picture via HDMI with the official docking station. I then have to unplug the docking station's power supply and plug it in again.

Same problem here with my Samsung Qled.
I just got my Steamdeck and my dock. First time it worked fine, did a software update and I could easily play. Now I just have a black screen. Tried everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. Tested all HDMI connectors, spent a lot of time resetting my TV, nothing worked.
I'm disappointed to say the least.

They’ll probably tell him what they told me. Make sure the firmware is updated and reset the dock by unplugging all cables for at least 10 seconds.

Literally the only solution at this time is to unplug the PSU until signal is detected, then plug back in.

I got an answer from Steam Support:

The support RMA my dock

They didn’t offer to RMA mine. They just said congrats, you discovered a bug, and told me to post it here.

I Just got my Steam Dock the other day and I am also having issues with my Steam Deck displaying on my TV. I'm glad I am not the only one with this issue. I tried everything to fix the issue. Tried four different working HDMI cables. Tried both my computer Monitor and my 4k TV. My Display issue is every day and the only way to get my Dock to connect to the Tv is by unplugging the power cable. Then plugging it back in "Restarting the Dock." It will work in the morning and when I come home to plug in my steam deck to the dock it's not working again..... When I contacted support, they gave me an official steam page about using the dock. I really do not like having to "reset the dock every day." Please steam work on this so called "bug."

I have the same issue with a Sony kd55x80j. Not even unplugging and replugging the power cable work. I am trying HDMI to HDMI.

Yes, I felt infuriated after wasting so much time (several weeks in fact) trying to fix the no signal issues using the official docking station. Purchased a third party dock, which works well overall so I'm using that instead of the official docking station.

So I had this problem. I'd connected to a different TV and the display settings flicked between which should be primary screen or not. I then switched back to my main TV and the hdmi wouldn't work.

I unplugged my device, switched to desktop mode and opened up the display settings. I then connected the dock and used my deck screen to configure there screen set up, setting my TV to primary device. It is now working again.
