Steam Deck: Links and Resources
Hi!

Welcome to the Steam Deck forums. Here are a few links you might find useful as you get started with your Steam Deck. We'll be updating this list as we go.

A quick note for folks receiving their Steam Decks in the first couple weeks
  1. Plug it in before booting to get your Steam Deck out of ship mode.

  2. Congrats! You got one of the first Steam Decks off the factory floor. This being the case, you'll see some updates out of the box. For instance, the system software (specifically Steam Deck’s BIOS) requires an update.

  3. The BIOS update will take place on technical looking, sideways screen, but don’t worry, this is completely normal. Just let it do its thing and you’ll be on your way to an improved Steam Deck experience. Future updates won’t look like this (and customers in the near future won't see this at all).

  4. For other questions, resources, and links, see the list above.

  5. Have fun! The team is having a blast shipping this product, and we hope you love Steam Deck as much as we do.

w00t! Less than 48 hours until no sleep week :) It is funny. I am probably older than 99% of the gamers here and I still get jacked for things like this.

I still don’t know how I’m after Q2, not even Q2. Even though I pre ordered the second it dropped 😭.

You nailed it. Launches are still a big affair to me organizing everything around it and having fun the way these sourpuss cynic curmudgeons have forgotten how to do. Awww just go get in the ground you bitter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Gaming is my go to always. I was able to quit work before the pandemic reared its head. Living like a vampire - take care of my dogs, work out, maybe add in a kayak session or a climb, goof off, add to my 40K collection, game all night, sleep late. The Deck means a lot but it also covers more gaming including emulation, tinker with tech, the sky's the limit.

An old time gamer here in the Q2+ category. I'd like to know what Ship Mode is. There's no drives to have to park. That's old timer computer lingo. Thanks, Lawrence, for the first official topic where it belongs.

Maybe a specific kind of power saving/sleep mode they put it into so the battery wouldn’t be active as they were shipping it (and less of a risk)?

Very happy to see our new swanky pinned thread. It’s makes us all official or something. ;)

Seriously, though, thank you mods for pinning the thread. It would be nice to get the news tab up to date with new announcements as well - I’m still getting a totally blank page.
