Cargo cult: the game.
Everything that is good and bad can be directly attributed to an Earthen game Bound to be very nostalgic for some (not me).
Good visually, great sound, but 90s want their clunky SNES rpg back.

Clunky IS the word of the day here.
Despite like 30 years of time passing, this game did not adopt any good ideas when it comes to RPGs.

I actually struggle to criticize it properly because of how lacking of its own gameplay identity it is. (Is this an intentional part of games industry satire?)

It is slow, decisions have fairly little consequences (with few exceptions) and all abilities feel impactless. (Enemy numbers go down, but there is no kick to them) (Is this another piece of satire?)

I think it's very charming but the pacing for 1 run is about 2 hours.

Some ability status confuse me.

One status will burn the enemy and then on the next turn, half of it will fall off.

You can +1 power yourself but it isn't clear if it's going to last for the rest of the battle or for only that one turn.

I am like 50/50, yes and no, with the game so far.

Burn does drop half its value.

[Edit 2] I understand my frustration now. This game doesn't have preview damage. When you click on a skill, and you expect do X damage, but you get Y.

I have this skill called Blockbuster. It uses your block value to deal X damage. And when my block value was like 50+, I was expecting to do 50 damage, and instead, I do 1 damage because of some other mechanic that I am not aware of. This is like basic Slay the Spire stuff that not in the game.

And the buff and debuff system have some heavy burden of knowledge.

For example, Burn drops at half values, poison ticks 1 down after each hit, Decay which acts like a ticking time bomb blows up at 50. Groggy ticks down by 1.

I just want them consistent: ie. Burn ticks down by 1, decay ticks down by 1, groggy ticks down by 1.

Charge reduces when you get hit not damage.

Overall experience with my time in this game has been okay.

Amazing game, but i still cant beat highest difficulty with the chess girl
If u have more than 2 braincells, u will love this game.
