Also, the Japanese versions don't count towards achievements, if that's important to you. I've just now learned this the hard way. :blasbaby:

Does the English version of castlevania 3 have enhanced audio? I know the Japanese version on the famicom system has extra sound channels

Yes, the music is better on jp versions from nes games, even the JP Castlevania IV has the whip/chains sounds that US version doesn't, but you don't unlock the achievements playing them that is sad. It would work for both versions.
