is it better to play the US or JP version? heard some people saying that the US one is way harder and if that's so, will beating the JP version give me the achievement for beating it *actually*?

The best in the series and its nowhere to be seen.

if i hadn't used save state, i probably wouldn't have been able to finish it for the rest of my life. even with save state, it was very difficult. especially the last and penultimate boss was very hard. but the boss variety and the room designs for the time period were quite solid. although the secondary weapons feel useless, i accept it as a good base since it's the first game. i can't wait to move on to the second game....
