(Poll) Do I need to return the mandatory spawn inhabited worlds next to the start system?
Recently, I removed the mandatory appearance of habitable worlds in neighboring starting systems, that would make the game start more casual for everyone. Many of you have already been able to test this. Now we need to answer the question, did this game make it more interesting or gave rise to new problems?

Please, I ask you to express your opinion and choose one of the solutions:

  1. Leave this change.
  2. Remove neighboring inhabited worlds only for live players.
  3. Return everything as it was. This change was superfluous.

I'd say yes if you can make it a pop-up option at the beginning of the game, else it's a no for me. Glory to RNJesus!

I'd have to agree with Leri-weill; leave it as an option for players if possible, the randomness of space is what makes it fun. :Hire:
I very personally do not mind the change myself, that said I don't actually fall one way or another when it comes to biased start systems. That said it might be harder for the AI to actually get rolling without some level of minor assistance.

As such I'd support plan 2.

Sorry Annatar, I thought this was not a spec but a problem. Just because there was a similar problem with vanilla 2.1. Real spaces patch notes and It was my mistake that overlooked the change log.
Your mod now is what many users love.
Your burden may increase, but I hope the player can choose this change.

I'd prefer having it as an option, or at least change it so that it's a chance of only having one mandatory planet rather than none at all.

I agree with Arashi, with the at least 1 planet guaranteed with maybe a chance based amount for others, like 60% chance for a second habatable planet, and 30% for a third one. And if possible a choice at the beginning to do either the way it is now, the diminishing percent idea (if possible), and vanilla.

Popup would be the best way (if possible), i like the change, makes the game more interesting.

I love this change. In fact, I wrote a small mod myself that removed them. They were gamey and made the early game way too predictable. I think it should stay the way it is in your main mod.

Nonetheless, I would suggest making a submod that adds the guaranteed planets, but with a much more randomized and higher distance from your homeworld. This way, there is some kind of balance, but you still need to actually find them. Having them right next to your starting system makes things way too easy and takes away the fun and excitement of exploration.

edit: Also, I am not a very experienced modder, but I think it is very hard if not impossible to add the guaranteed planets via a popup event after the galaxy already generated. Its either on or off, I'm afraid.

yes, I will do it but later

I would leave at least one planet for an AI. It needs them to pose any threat.

An option would be prefereable but if I had to choose between the two I would say change it back. I realise it's up to RNGesus but in almost all my testing I started with few if any habitable worlds within 3-4 jumps from me on 2x habitable spawn

Please, return everything as it was. I was unpleasantly surprised myself when returning to Stellaris to find that there were almost no habitable planets anywhere near homeworlds now.

I always used Real Space for the visual improvements, which I have loved and get better and better. This spawn limitation seems like feature creep outside the scope of the original intentions of this mod. It would make sense to me to make it into a seperate mod or checkable feature (on or off).

I returned a long time ago. Just now it is regulated in the game settings. In addition, you can increase the span of the inhabited planets.

I see. Thanks for responding and sorry for overlooking that.

The reason I suspected otherwise is that any game I start with the most current version of Real Space (3.3) hardly has any habitable worlds in the vicinity of homeworlds now. Usually I get one or two worlds within 2 jumps and the rest starts at 4 to 5 jumps and even then being very scarce. My settings are max on Habitable Worlds (5) and max on Guaranteed Habitable Worlds (2).

Am I doing something wrong with the settings?
