Exploding Stargates (continued from comments)
(For anyone just finding this thread, this is about an issue where stargates damage the floor when they are used, destroying the floor blocks under them and thus themselves after a couple uses, as well as killing characters. I play on a dedicated server. The problem happens whether vortex damage is on or off, but is much worse when it is on.)

I confirmed that the Stargate vortex damage was set to off. I don't have the wormhole mod. It behaved exactly as I described before. I also observed that I once took damage by standing near the portal when it opened, which sounds like I "intersected the radius" as you said. Exit ports seem to kill characters in that radius as well, even when they've been open for a bit. It seems that perhaps not only is the vortex damage in effect when it shouldn't be, it's a bit larger than intended, hence the damage to blocks directly below the stargate? This might be supported by the fact that after I turned off vortex damage, the blocks below the stargate were only partly damaged instead of completely destroyed.

Or perhaps I can speculate that as of some update, the game, if not finding a collision mesh for a model, adds one of its own, causing the vortex effect to collide with things?

Anyway, here's a log with debug. I went back and forth between two portals until one of them broke. I went three or four times, welding the armor blocks back into shape the first few times. One of the stargates was on a row of light armor blocks stickng out in the air and it did ALMOST no damage to those blocks. The other one was in a somewhat cramped room on top of heavy armor floor in all directions, with only windows as walls (those don't transfer deformation do they?) and the floor took a LOT of damage each time the gate was opened.

Okay, I'm not much a programmer but I think the issue is related to the stargates collision model because if you put the stargate floating in free space it reacts just fine it's once you put it onto a platform is when the problems arise.

Also another potential solution is the removal and paste of the new stargate from the old versions. Perhaps something goes wonky in during that process but I haven't attempted to make a new world with one (To do list)

After some light testing the only way to reproduce the exploding gates is by making a world with the old version and replacing it with the new version. Basically it would appear to not be save game compatiable. Hope that helps.

I don't think that's it. I didn't upgrade from the old version, this version is the first time I've used the Stargate mod and the save file is less than a week old.

I've just made a bizzarre observation:
At the exit portal of a stargate, I saw the model consisting of the stable blue portal (after the vortex animation) and orange lights "fall out" of the ring, like a separate, detached part. It appeared to do so repeatedly as I was rubber banding pretty bad at the time. Unfortunately I didn't get a screenshot, but it appeared to tilt from the bottom and fall out. The space it occupied might or might not be the same space as will kill my character when i walk into it.

hmmm Well i have made 3 new worlds just using the new version and haven't encountered the bug. And all of the worlds have been loaded onto my dedicated server.

I've seen the same behaviors you are describing, but I have only seen it once.
The event horizon is a separate grid, with physics disabled (no collisions). The collision models also do not extend outside of the block limits (game prevents it).
I haven't had much time yet to look into it, but I should shortly.
