The game still handles removed missions poorly. There's nothing I can really do to fix it, Stabound is just awfully bad at removing mods

One solution to this problem is to download the .pak of the game and extract the files, you can then go into those extracted files, delete everything but the "ai" folder, and then plop it in your "Starbound\mods" folder and it will stop the game from crashing when talking with SAIL when you unsubscribe from the mod. Or you could try to figure out where the data for missions is stored and delete the mod's mission from your save, however, you will be forced to redo the mission if you ever reinstall the mod.

however, upon deleting the data (which seems to be encrypted from my point of view) it will also reset all other quests and ship upgrades, so it might be a bit more hassle in the long run.
