What could be even better is if pawns favored items that helped their job priorities so we didnt have to micromanage that aspect of it.
That's... debatable. The properties of RimWorld still allow you to design your bases to look however you might enjoy it; micromanagement isn't exactly a property in personal style or tastes.
So, it's not going to become a "simple movie." it's more like a decoratium, though I have the argument that only the insane would make the lazy happy. Such things that make a button solve every issue would be the least likely thing to see on the workshop.
