Set-based Research bonuses no longer apply on every tick, and instead have a success rate based a roll of 1d20+Research Bonus versus a target number of 18.
Why??? That is like a 85% nerf??? The researchers armor already has weak bonuses, and now the research bonus which is only reason I could see anyone building set for is practically worthless. Also as far as I know there is only one set with the bonus?

I just don't understand, like isn't the research grind hard enough? Even with my base on a tier 6+ planet spending most of time there exploring and building, have 30+ hours on my character and still haven't even got all the normal metal smelting recipes because they so damn expensive.

Because the bonus was applying too often, making the armors with research demonstrably better than every other option. Game balance matters. This change also means I can use the Research Bonus feature in more places, so that this bonus becomes more useful and meaningful for players.

Further: the researcher set is a great set for exploration, with or without the research bonus. There's a reason its one of the most commonly used sets in the mod. And that reason isn't because its "worthless" lol.
