X'i (the radioactive race) because they are cute and quirky. They are also very alien, and the lore says they they are a very old race. So I play them as a bit sociopathic/uncaring about these new races. They can also eat anything, which simplifies life. They can't use normal healing stuff, which complicates life.
(The psionic race), again because they are alien and quirky. They also can eat anything. Their racial tech makes quick work of felling trees or harvesting soft materials - but this is mostly an early-game benefit.
In FU however, I immediately fell in love with the looks of Nightar Race, but was kind of scared of their Racial stats (less DMG in sunlight - uh oh?) and picked the cat-like race.
Kept regretting it afterwards, so I stopped halfway and started over with Nightar.
Nightar definitely is my favourite race in FU. They look amazing, have a neat racial tech, and are great for exploration. I don't even mind the stat drop in bright spaces, since it's not as bad as expected. I realized that you can also disable racial stats at some point, but never did. Life drain and stat boosts in caves are just way to much fun to miss out on :)
