Borg...
So in early versions of the mod I felt like the Borg were very underwhelming, they would often stall out very early and never really become a major galactic factor, this has obviously changed.
It's been a couple months for me since I last Stellaris (all I play is STNH when I do play) So there was obviously some sort of update done that changed how the Borg function.

The thing is now, in my experience, every game is the same. The Borg conquer the galaxy. They are never stopped.

Now when I do play through, my whole focus is fending off or confronting the Borg, I am never successful with this.

I have lowered the difficulty (usually Admiral) the Borg still dominate and everyone else is just weaker, so that doesn't help.

My default position is I must be doing something wrong. If so what?

I will have all the anti-Borg things going (edicts, ascension perk, agenda etc) , my ships will be outfitted just to confront the borg (hull and armour) and I just get rolled. The whole galaxy does.

Their fleet capacity is off the charts compared to everyone else.

They basically function like a crisis, but they are unhindered at all.

Is it me? Is it a balancing issue? Is this how it is meant to be?

From what I have seen thus far, they're far too OP to go up against. It's great they buffed them more, but they need to reign them back just a little bit more

I have beaten the Borg on GA as UFP. It is definitely doable if you macro properly. You're economy can get so big the fleet cap doesn't matter - last game I had over 10 million in fleet power.

It's not just you. The Mod is basically unplayable due to the Borg being op. Min/Maxing so you can win isn't a solution. It's so broken that by the time most races reach the very early TOS tech the Borg are already invading the lower half of the galaxy and it's all over soon after that.

If you are extremely lucky and are extremely aggressive you can make it to the end of the TOS era before you get wiped out by the Borg.

This makes the mod have no replayability whatsoever.

The Borg just had an on/off button enabled by default in the mod. Going to test it out and will report back. Give me a week.

as like vanilla is unplayable when galaxy crisis appears?
overall stnh is a star trek simulation, there are the borg (and dominion) the evil thread.

but feel free to test the new option, if its playable for you now.

The difference is that Crisis in similar mods tends to appear very late but that's coded to do so deliberately. I never played vanilla at all. If the previous version of this mod's behavior was normal in Vanilla then that's terrible.

What you did here with the latest update is brilliant however. I really like the options you included not just for the Borg but all of them like the realistic survey speed and slowing down of the ships.

I'm still testing the changes so I'll report back once I got a good game in.

Yeah every time i play the borg steam roll through everyone else. So when i start a new game i kill them straight away with the console codes and then normally fight it out with the dominion or the Klingons.

Although when i play as the borg i normally get defeated.

It´s not you. The mod difficulty has been formed with the old version of Stellaris.

But there has been a huge update in the Stellaris which increased the difficulty in play signifficantly. And this feature also totaly ruined the balance of the STNH mod. The Borg became 100 times stronger since then and dev team does not care to adjust it.

It is almost 2 years now and nothing happened yet. So if you want a better playability I suggest to switch for STNC mod or Star Trek Infinite.

Yeah nothing like the 31.7.2024 introduced "Borg War Cooldown / Sleep mode starting option toggle, adds an option to slow the AI Borg's progression if the player wishes. Default option is set to On." and 3.5.2024 "Event - Anti-Borg edicts effectiveness increased by 25%" and lastly even 18.9.2024 "Setup - New start game option via Q to remove the Borg from the game should you feel resistance is indeed futile or scary."

Although even with all that said, if the AI Borg start in your neighborhood and assuming of course you don´t use the option to kill them completely, they can still be a very powerful opponent to face quite early on.
