Yeah, it's because the hud currently isn't using the font it's supposed to use, due to a bug with gmod's GMA system.
oh, well that sucks
It's most likely an addon conflict, because appearently, the hud is working for other users (correct me if I'm wrong!) and a font error would just leave one single console message and then fall back to the default font.

UPDATE : switching the " player speed " animation on and off seems to fix my problem

You get this without anything but my hud enabled?
Mhh... I'm not sure, if I can fix this. In fact, if you've ruled out an addon conflict as a possible source of the problem and even redownloaded the .gma, I honestly don't know what's the deal here.
The hud, as of now, seems to be working on all my testing machines.
Were you testing it in another gamemode then sandbox?
Do you have any local or silent addons?
Also, I never said, that you shouldn't post console errors.
In fact those are a hundret times more helpfull then "it's broken".
So feel free to add console errors to your bug reports, it really helps me out.
