has Total War: ROME II - Emperor Edition

Trying to enjoy DeI on Ultra size, but having 3+ stacked armies fighting is just a huge FPS mess.

Decent rig, DeI on ultra size just turns into a slideshow. FPS is around 60-90 but the units are just... Slideshowing? Stuttering? I just want to enjoy this game/mod and play the huge battles without these framerapes.
