Total War: ROME II - Emperor Edition

Total War: ROME II - Emperor Edition

Divide et Impera Part 1
Some Design&Historical Suggestions
First of all, i want to say how good this mod is.
It's a game on it's own and i cannot praise it enough. But you hear that all the time, so, after playing this mod for about 500 hours, i want to list my critiques as positively and constructively as possible while giving some ideas. I am a game designer myself and i love to see people do these kinds of things with such enthusiasm.

1- I know this is a limitation of the game engine, but being unable to replenish the entire army because a single missing noble, is rather lethal at times. A workaround could be implementing a system where armies can reinforce from other provinces at a cost, or one by one by paying their fees, as in earlier total wars. Though i don't know if the game would allow that.

2- Specifically for Romans; Both socii (Hastatii&Principe) and faction units requiring Plebs for recruitment makes socii units completely redundant unless you're playing a role-playing type of game. Also Both Hastatii and Principe being recruited from the same source makes Hastatii a very questionable unit, because at the end of the day, they will use up the replenishment/recruitment pool of a better unit, so why not pay the small difference and get the principe in the first place? Goes quadruple for Socii Hastati. A sane man would never sacrifice 200 plebs for a Socii while they can get a much better principe! I'd say make Socii units use foreign population. Weren't they "ALLIED HASTATI" anyway? I mean, that's why they are called "socii". They are not Plebs, they are foreigners. That was the point of them existing in the first place. If they were same as Roman citizens, they wouldnt be called "allied hastati or allied principe". Make Socii Units Peregrini as they should be. They are not that good anyway. (Especially if you consider syracusan marines are what they are.) (Except equite extraordinarii. they are very powerful and would imbalance the game.) And yeah, god knows Rome actually needs such a change for their first 100 turns because every single faction you ever meet hates your guts. Almost everyone, including Syracusa declares war on you before the turn 100..

3- Where are the Gladiators and Gladiatrices! Come on, they may not be very historical but they are a very fun unit to watch...

4- Spartans could actually use a nice buff.. Their units are extremely hard to recruit and replenish, especially early on, and they don't really pay off their price.. not even remotely.
Actually, this goes for all hoplite units.
Actually I have some things in mind about unit balancing that i could discuss for hours, but i guess everyone will have an opinion and you wouldn't spend much of a time talking about unit stats and potential changes.

5- This is personal preference, but i actually liked Rome 2's own unit card design better. A bit more authentic.

6- Where are chariots...? DUH! Egyptian scythe chariots for examples. I know they are non-realistic gimmicky units, like gladiators, but removing them doesn't really add into the game. Let us have that option. A lot of fun options never killed anyone.

-Thank you for reading.

This isn't vanilla Rome 2 anymore, stop asking for whack-ass units that didn't exist. DEI is probably the one mod ever made for this game that actually cares about history.
