AOD Lore: Islanders
The islanders’ culture is a resilient and adaptive tapestry shaped by the challenges of limited resources and the necessity of survival in isolated environments. Islanders are pragmatic and resourceful, often engaging in occupations such as fishing, hunting, prospecting, trading, piracy, and sailing. Their economies rely heavily on recycling and repurposing materials obtained both locally and through trade with continental neighbors, reflecting a culture of sustainability born from scarcity.
Weaponry among islanders ranges widely, from rudimentary wooden and stone arms to more advanced iron and steel implements, depending on access to materials and external influences. Politically, islander societies tend to favor federations and tribal alliances, a structure that suits their logistical realities and communal mentality. However, their political systems remain flexible, adapting to environmental conditions and external pressures.
Cultural influences vary significantly across islands. For example, the people of Voito Island embody a unique blend of Vozneslya and Kestamilja traditions. From Vozneslya, they inherit a legacy of skilled trade, seafaring, and ironclad warfare, alongside a secular social structure supported by guilds and a strong agricultural foundation. From Kestamilja, they draw resilience from a harsh northern environment, mastery of forest resources, and a robust naval presence adapted to icy waters.
In contrast, the western islands of Vozneslya often operate with considerable autonomy, sometimes disregarding the central authority of the Vozhd. This independence fosters a distinct islander identity that balances local customs with broader federation ties.
Overall, islander cultures are marked by their adaptability, communal bonds, and a pragmatic approach to survival and governance. Their federations and alliances reflect a collective strength, while their openness to external cultural influences enriches their traditions and social structures. This dynamic interplay of environment, politics, and culture defines the diverse and enduring spirit of the islanders.

The main island state in the world is Cremania republic. The country claims entire island despite the influence from Isendryl empire and one of its successors, Norsudon. The main religion here is Isendril faith with Omnilord Isendar although some north regions are worshipping different deities. The sedentary lifestyle, fortifications, craft guilds and connections of the provincial outskirts with their centers - all this was created in the republic under great influence from the powerful empire, which at one time ruled the entire continent. And the combined regular army and navy arose under the realization that forces from across the seas could invade the island at any moment.

The Republic was established through unification when the southern provinces of the island were under the direct control of the Isendryl Empire. Despite the fact that the state was formed peacefully, the ambitions of the rulers were very selfish and aggressive: the liberation of the south of Cremania and the possible seizure of the northern provinces of the empire. The fall and divide of Isendril allowed Cremania to unite entire island. However the invasion on the continent has failed: weakened Bogustavek and Norsudon have allied each other and pushed Cremanian forces back. After that the republic council declared total neutrality and focus on Cremania's prosperity.

Morvia tribal alliance is state that represents Islander culture. Morvia is quite aggressive and tend to resist and stand its ground for its independence. This hapened due to its location, - archipelago between three major super-countries (Isendryl, Kestamilja and Vozneslya), - and due wish to stay uncontrolled by them. Each island contains one tribe that stays unified by fear and carefulness of invaders from beyond seas. Morvia exists on its own although its encountering travellers and merchants from Cremania and other countries. Depends on how hostile is guest.
Due to its specific tolerance of neutral persons Morvia archipelago became a hub where mercenaries may find work, traders - customers, and criminals - a shelter. It would not be changed even whenever the alliance may cease to exist.

After recent wars south islands of Morvia have Vozneslya and Bogustavek presence.

The main challenge for Morvia is direct confrontation to Vozneslya. The war would be victorious for the latter. However it may change once the tribal alliance be allied with other political contestants.
