1. Radial menus pre-date Fortnite by a long, long time. I can recall a few RPG games in the 90's that even had a similar system. Whether it be for a D-Pad or a thumbstick, radial menus just make selecting a prompt a one-click solution, rather than having to scroll across a horizontal menu. Grand Theft Auto, Left 4 Dead 2, Apex Legends, Rust, Helldivers 2.... they all have radial menus.
2. Fortnite's UI is pretty controversial, but they have an excellent thing going for them as far as accessibility goes. I don't think it's a bad idea to adapt modern solutions.
sure thing buddy
if they added a second page, it would be 16 taunts. This happens to be a bigger number than 8.
8 Taunt slots made sense when I started playing the game and there was literally only like, 4 purchasable taunts. In 2025 I can't see any legitimate reason to limit this number.
Why i said its not limited is because tf2 does not have THAT many taunts. As it is just easy to change any taunts trough your class menu and head to the healing cabinet.
That might be just me getting so used to doing that. I can admit ignorant on that.
If the point of it is to only make it be able to use more than 8 taunts, ok thats cool.
But keep the taunt menu visual the same, there is nothing wrong with the original look of it.
I just don't like the idea that the art style of the game to be changed to be more "simple" and flat.
Twisted for the desire of others that want tf2 to be a different game.
That is what i saw seeing the menu design, which made me quick to think "this is for overwatch/fortnite players"
And also i never said anything being against controller players (apparently they exist on tf2 pc)
If there is an accessibility for controllers, that's great, and the game should be updated for people to be fully able to play tf2 with controller.
it's not that the original menu is "wrong", but it's tailored exclusively to keyboard users. The idea of the radial design would ideally make it so controller/steam deck users can access all their taunts. Keyboard users lose nothing and controller users gain a more accessible system.
I don't really see how any of these designs differ from the game's default art style. Even so, I included several variations to hopefully quell this fear. The default taunt menu is already "minimalist".
Sounds like we agree lol
This project is neat stuff
