Real Good Headlights and Truck Fixes
For any lengthy discussions about this headlight mod, feel free to join in here.

I also want to mention about a companion mod for Real Good Headlights for Modded Trucks. It is called "Truck Fixes" and can be downloaded from my own website. Click this link to get the mod:

https://clickheresoftware.com/files/truckfixes.scs

If the above link does not work because your IP range or country might be blocked due to spamming and hacking in your area, the following link has no blocking and should work for you:

http://files.clickheresoftware.com/truckfixes.scs

The above truckfixes.scs file is V1.1 which was released on April 25, 2025.

It is a single "scs" file that you can place in your ATS local mod folder. Most of you will know where the mod folder is located, but for those who do not, it is usually found here:

C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\Documents\American Truck Simulator\mod

On some systems, it might be here:

C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\OneDrive\Documents\American Truck Simulator\mod

On a Linux system, it is usually here:

/home/YOUR USER NAME/.local/share/American Truck Simulator/mod

The Truck Fixes mod is needed, because the RGH mod was getting way too large when I included some mirror fixes in it. The SCS Workshop Uploader would not allow just the MAT files to be edited and included. They had to be located somewhere other than in the automat folder. That meant that I had to include the entire mirror so that it could be altered and know how to find the mat file that describes the actual mirror glass. With mirrors for only 5 trucks added to RGH, the uncompressed version of the mod became about 70 megabytes in size! The Truck Fixes mod which only needs to have the mat files is only a little over 40 Kbytes. And it also includes some fixes for the windshield and door glass on several trucks. I find it odd that the game will accept the edited mat files, but the uploader won't. I would much rather have the Truck Fixes mod on Steam, but due to the uploader refusal, it is just not possible.

For the GTM trucks, Truck Fixes also includes the stock SCS halogen lights. So, the mod can actually fix the GTM trucks without using the Real Good Headlights mod. In the mod manager, just make sure it is placed above the trucks you wish to use it with. If you wish to use it along with Real Good Headlights, put RGH above Truck Fixes.

The Truck Fixes mod includes the following fixes:

GTM Trucks Peterbilt 567, Kenworth T-800, and Kenworth W900B:
Fixes the headlights, mirrors, reflection issues on the interior door glass and windshield, bad audio reverberation in the cab, and adds the interior shadows option.

KSW Diamond Reo and KSW Dodge CNT950:
Fixes the mirrors

Haterbilt 389:
Removes the heavy tint from the interior view of the door glass.

Doms 379 and Outlaw 359:
Removes the heavy tint from the interior view of the windshield and door glass.

Dodge DN800/D500:
This actually adds tint to the windshield and door glass. The glass in this truck makes everything look much lighter than it really is. This is not possible in real life. Glass can only get clear and completely transparent. It can have tint and make things darker, but it can't create light. This mod makes the glass tint very similar to the stock SCS trucks.

By fixing the glass tint on the above trucks, it makes visibilty at night much nicer. Everything is clearer. Also, the effectiveness of the headlights is not reduced.

I might find some other needed fixes to add to this mod. For instance, I'd like to be able to adjust the brightness and contrast on the GPS on some of the mod trucks so that we can read the speed limit at night.

Hi Maurice,
Just a note: the link to your site is not working.

Actually, it is working. But, I'll bet I know what is happening. I have a lot of IP address blocking to keep hackers and spammers away. You might be in a country or range of IP's that is being blocked. Give me until later today and then check back. I will set up another download link that isn't blocked for you.

I added a second link where the Truck Fixes mod can be downloaded from. This link has no IP blocking and should work for anyone.
Great work Maurice. Very happy to be able to use the T800 again. Thank you.

Sammy Fay, glad it worked out for you. The 3 GTM trucks here on Steam were done so nicely, it was a shame not to be able to still use them. My Truck Fixes mod takes care of that and for even better headlights, my Real Good Headlights mod gets the job done. It's too bad he GTM truck authors don't update the trucks. It would be easy for Sisl to fix them and upload the new versions to Steam. But, for now, we have a fix that works.
I think one Sisi member past away two year ago. I remember reading something among those lines in the T800 comments.
Thanks Maurice, mirrors on the 567 look good with the Truck Fixes!

clearjet89, that 567 is a very nice truck. I sure am glad I was able to figure out the 5 fixes that it needed badly.
Maurice, thank you very much for these mods. I haven't played for about six years, but just picked it up again, and the T800 was the first modded truck I installed. I was about to uninstall the truck, but decided to look for a fix, and found this. Your work is very much appreciated.

Dr Wigglespank, you're welcome. Those GTM trucks are too nice to just send to the junk yard. With a little work, they are back on the road.
