In terms of an infected player that has died, I'm not sure if the game considers the corpse to be a zombie, or a player. I'd have to test to find out, but, it's possible there'd be some inconsistency here depending on how the game handles it.
Personally, I feel like it's an odd feature to ask for, at least right now, as we don't have multiplayer, and in single player, I believe most people just start a new save when they die. I won't do it now, just because I don't see value it in at present. When multiplayer comes out, if I remember, I'll take a look at it.
Thank you.
I mean, they should already be attracted to the roadkill. Starving Zombies already supports zombies eating animal corpses, there's no distinction really being made between animal, zombie, and player, apart from modifying the time it takes to the eat the corpse.
Human corpses have a multiplier of 1, meaning, they're the base standard for the time. Cows are the largest, at 2.4, meaning they take 2.4x longer to eat, with mouse pups/babies being the smallest, at a 0.05 multiplier, meaning they're basically eaten in seconds.
Right, but the wording in your last two replies suggested you weren't aware that they already ate animal corpses, which was in conflict with what you said first, which seemed to imply that you did know the mod supported that behaviour, so, for safety sake, I thought it was necessary to make sure it was known that the mod does, infact, already support that behaviour. Either that, or, you knew it should've been happening, but weren't seeing it happen, and it's actually potentially a bug report.
I've got no issues with providing an option to limit it to animal corpses, but, again, that's such a rarity, and in most cases of where the hunting and roadkill takes place, there's no zombies, the mod will basically be doing nothing. It won't be something I do any time soon, I've got an update I'm play testing for my mod Wandering Zombies, and I'm quite burnt out on Project Zomboid at this time, so it's taking me longer than it normally would.
All that aside, you've pointed out one of the reasons I hate the entire zombie genre: how do zombies magically know who is infected, and isn't? Why do zombies rip, tear and bite people apart, when they're trying to spread the infection? None of it makes sense.
My justification is this: a zombie that has been destroyed (the brain, which is the usual trope) can no longer spread the infection, but, could be used to sustain their rotting bodies, so, it's survival behaviour to consume their own, and, consume potential hosts. As for why they don't eat other, it's justified by them eating the corpses of their fallen, they wouldn't start eating each other until they become few in number, and desperate. Does raise the question of whether they're capable of that reasoning, and how they can still tell infected from non infected (smell, appearance?) but, y'know, best explanation you're going to get.
Yeah, my replies should have been worded better, my bad.
I totally hear you on everything else, the rarity, burn out, and justification. I appreciate the replies. If this change is something you have the time and motivation to address in the future, that's great. Awesome work on the mods!
