STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

Awakening of the Clone Wars
Republic Navy is unbelievably weak
Venators drop like flies. The only better ship is the Valiant which builds slowly, misses all but the heaviest targets. the republic has literally no good naval option.

Have you played through a full campaign as both factions? You'll find the Republic is plenty strong enough.
Not weak if you focus on cmd venators and something else (e.g. acclamator) for enemy smaller stuff and target enemy shields and snipers with your bombers. Pause all the time and manually target. Yes normal venators are useless in this sniper-centric mod. Read carefully https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/workshop/filedetails/discussion/3387971722/598515262043510817/

I disagree with you, unfortunately even with almost 300 hours in this mod alone just playing as the republic, the lack of ion weaponry in general is quite awful, especially since they are planet specfic units and youre kinda screwed if you dont have them. Its never fun watching the CIS carve their way to the core using only providences and a lucrehulk, so the only way to win is just build the same two units because everything else just doesnt matter, it feels like every unit is extra clutter and useless except the capitol ship. You would expect some type of variety instead of a providence/lucrehulk stack that you cant defend against and you can only win attacking against them if you outnumber them 3:1, debating bothering with any of the dreadnoughts as well tbh because they just get blown away in 15-30 secs. I am all ears honestly, and I absolutely love this game...just raging because i still havent won.

So have you played as both factions or not?
Ehh its the Republic heroes for me, dark jedi tanking plo koon, yoda, and mace. thats ridiculous. I may be using them wrong...but I have found the jedi to be unusable.
Honestly the only reason I wont play this mod over Fall of the republic which is so much worse is so many ways.

You are definitely using the jedi wrong if you think they are unusable.

but how are venators weak lmao. They shred any capital ship or space station, just like the ISD they eat anythin but corvettes alive ecspecially with the power to main batteries you are chewing up providence and killing munificent in seconds. And losing them is part of the course, its a war and you need to constantly produce more ships. Loosing a venator doesnt matter after week 30. Only thing with venators is that they would hugely benefit from a better fighter compiment. ♥♥♥♥ the V19 all my homies hate the V19.
Low IQ commentary by the Republiots
If you don't sus out the differences between the Republic and the Confederacy, you'll end up thinking one of the two sides is extremely underpowered. For the Republic, like the Rebellion in AOTR, your best friend is going to be starfighter superiority. By far the smartest thing to do is get the Fighter Tech to level 1, and then mass-produce Acclamators. Without the starfighter upgrade, the Acclamators are horrendous, they crumble under fire and the V-19s are literally barely better than the CIS fighters... which come in swarms. Once you get the upgrade, however, you get the Z-95 which has three times the hit points as the V-19, better weaponry, and barely worse maneuverability. Not only that, but you also get the y-wing bombers which are stunningly good. Suddenly, you're able to send bombers after the CIS's frigates and cruisers, even wiping out lucrehulks with ease, and if they send fighters, your Z-95's wipe them out. Seriously, if you have a fleet that is 12 acclamators and a command ship, you're bringing twelve z-95s and twelve bombers, and I think you'll be stunned at how much damage you can actually do with these.

Once you have this core strategy figured out, maybe put an invincible dreadnought to soak up turbolaser fire, everything kind of falls into place. But without the fighter upgrade, the Republic's Capital ships just aren't as good as the Confederacy's imo.

Interesting. I though Venator cmd ship spam + something else as a carrier, vicII (AA ships) was the only economical, but boring, solution. However then you need to turn tail and retreat when your (jedi) fighters are spent as the CIS bombers will get you and also you cannot protect your bombers/strikecraft anymore to knock out CIS brawler shields and artilley ships. If you do this right (key is to be aggressive with bombers/strikecraft) you can knock out a full popcap fleet and more before retreating w/o losses.

I am curios though. CIS usually spawns alot of brawlers and they charge you AND spawn in close to you as reinforcements. Will your acclamators not melt away super fast making this approach very risky and not so economical (not losing ships is important on hardest difficulty) ? Or are you saying you can eliminate all incoming CIS threats (artilley/bombers/charging brawlers) using just 12 bombers and 12 z95s in a prolonged fight? It may be the case, bombers and strikecraft are powerful..

The mod in general really prioritizes smaller escort ships. I love both versions of the Arquintens (spelling) and the flak pelta whose name escapes me is amazing.
