Initial Assessment
Based on the first battle, this mod seems very poorly made. For one, I got stuck when my character died and the battle carried on without him. Once I wiped out the enemy, he failed to revive and when I clicked on the relay, I got karma and was told I completed the objective, except nothing else happened. No further objectives, nothing.
Moreover, the props don't fit in very well, and stick out quite sorely in the background. The most egregious example would be a certain bizarre looking tank standing there looking like something out of a Picasso painting. The first battle was uninspired. You were expected to charge head on against some Tir Tairmgre soldiers. It was poorly scripted, as your allied troops, neutral, never moved to cover and just shot at the enemy in range, and then left you on your own to track down the troops that decided to stay behind.

I'd recommend to other players to wait some more. Maybe somebody will make a better campaign to play. So far, this doesn't seem that great. Just a shoddy "grab your gun and shoot" story with a sequence of tough enemies. Also, you seem to be playing from the author's "Ace" character's perspective? It's unclear.

I rather liked the tank, although I wish it could've been used as cover.

Ace is your commander, and from what I gather, has already made a bit of a name for himself.
Your character begins as a relative nobody. That could be clearer, I agree.

The storyline is actually fairly ambitious, although polish is a bit lacking.

If you didn't revive your character and the battle ended then HBS game mechanics mean you have to revive them. It won't automatically happen. No game should continue on once the main character is dead in SRR. Expecting that to happen is sign that you don't know much about SRR. NPC's will do what they want in battle regardless of what campaign you are playing. Them not taking cover is totally up to the AI. I don't expect to please everybody with my props, but I did try. The funny thing is that it is a picture of a real tank that I just used paint to color orange. I have placed in there when it is Ace responding and not you. I have stated in conversation that you are a rookie private. I am sorry that the first scene where soldiers with no dodge and only 1 armor point were too much for you to handle. Judging an entire campaign as uninspired based on your inability to fight inferior opponents when you have an army backing you is a sign of weakness on your part as a gamer.
@steelecoresoviet-- I thought it was used as cover. I'll look into that. My starting scene story would have been longer explaining more about the private, but it limited what I could say so I said it as best I could with what I had originally written. Yes, polishing is needed and I asked for beta testers so I could do just that. I have played it twice with 2 different characters, but since I know what happens I can't see everything as an outsider. I apreciate the feedback and ideas on how to improve it.

Okay, I just went through and verified that all tanks should be able to be used as cover. The larger ones should count as heavy cover. If they are not please let me know so I can try to rework them.
Also, I went ahead and placed some more of the starting soldiers behind cover, but left room for the PC's to be able to find cover as well. If they leave cover though that is completely up to the AI.

I sincerely appreciate the tank thing.

I think some of the ranks and military codes could be improved.
If Ace commands a platoon as an Lt2, he'd deploy with one of his squads to the special mission, while leaving 2 more to fortify. That'd make Jarvis your sargeant.

If Ace was a mere sargeant, he could be ordered to undertake that mission, but that'd make him an NCO, which doesn't seem to fit with him knowing generals.

I also think it'd make sense to have this all take place in a single division, so there's not 4 generals directing each other's men...

I'll completely agree with the whole rank thing. I have never been military so don't k now it as well as others. That being said I would like to say that even though I have 4 Generals in there only 2 actually give the unit orders. One requests your assistance and one you just happen to save or kill depending on your conversation choices. Lankums is over Myers which is why I have those 2 doing so...and why Lankums would even attempt such is explained in the story. Normally such a thing would be beneath him.

Reading a bit more into it, the formal rank system may not be used at all.

Perhaps the soldiers should degraded a bit at all. A captain would not lead a fireteam or squad, a General not commanding a single camp. Perhaps it is possible to change Ace's rank to Sargent and Myer (or was it Meyer, the one star General) to captain or major? I am not sure, if a small force like the California Rangers would have more than General.
Second the dessert is looking very flat, but i am afraid there is no sand texture enclosed in the editor. Perhaps some more dry gras or bushes would give a better look. But I am not sure, what possibilities there are.

I never said that the general was just over the one camp. I will clarify that though. Secondly, the rangers are not the ones protecting the borders. They are just a police force. If you have access to the california free state book look up pages 110-113 dealing with Barstow and the miliaty forces there. It is a combination of forces from numerous corporations to protect the borders. As far as who would be doing what, when you have a small force protecting your homeland just about all hands are required for action. I am slowly adding more stuff to the background and trying to be more specific about the military. I have cacti, rocks, dead trees and ponytail palms in there right now. I may have more, but that is what I remember. I am going back through and making references to Barstow now as well to help clarify things.
