How to use the AIO Controller with the engine and gearbox?

I cannot for my life figure out how to make my tank move with the AIOC. It only idles, changes gear and nothing else. Shooting and rotating the turret wasn't a problem, but why is the AIOC not mentioned anywhere on the internet or ACF wiki. Please help.
