Divsion History

IRAQ Republican Guard Hammurabi Armored Division
Organisation:
Created 1984 Organisation: 1st motorized infantry brigade and the 2nd and 10th Republican Guard armored brigades (6, P.529)
During 1986, 11 new brigades of the Republican Guards were created and organised into four divisions; one of them Hammurabi. The 1st Republican Guards Armoured Brigade was re-designated the 17th Republican Guards Armoured Brigade (9, P. 39)
1987 Organisation: 8th & 17th Armoured, 15th Mechanised Brigades Republican Guards (9, P. 26)
1988 Organisation: 8th & 17th Armoured, 15th Mechanised and depending on operation sometimes 12th Commando Brigade, 20th Infantry Brigade, 29th Mechanised Brigade(9, P. 50,56,67;10, P. 53)

Known Operations:
Counterattacking against the Karbala 6 offensive (6, P.394)
Fighting against the IRGC during defence against Operation Karbala-8, April 1987 - The Iranians tried pushing towards Basra (9, P. 26)
Plan 22 - The Iraqi liberation of the Faw Peninsula and Faw City (9, P.45)
Operation Ramadan Mubarak, April 1988 (9, P. 50)
Operation Tawakalna ala Allah 1988 - In reserve to exploit any success (9, P. 56)
Operation Tawakkalna ala Allah 2 1988 (9, P. 67)
Operation Tawakkalna ala Allah 4 1988 (10, P. 53)

About:
"It assembled all the Republican Guard units in a single armored division named Hammurabi, in honor of the great Babylonian king. This elite division, whose command was entrusted to General Hussein Rashid, was allocated the most recent T-72 tanks and the GCT- AUF1 155 mm self- propelled howitzers just delivered by France. It had tremendous striking force." (6, P.269)

This reminds me I wanted to do the other divs for this section. Just got stuck on the 92nd Armoured because it was involved so much in the war. Actually wasn't sure anyone reads this stuff over here. XD
But yeah thx a lot for those write-ups I will take pointers from them when I get to the Iraqi divs again. Just had a glance and its highly interesting.
You don't happen to have some sources for the iranians? Because iam working on a Pasdaran Division right now and iam struggling to find good sources.
I'm afraid not, I spent all of my energy on Iraq and had none left for Iran!

I get it, I have to balance my energy with research on both and getting actual modding stuff done. Its all a bit overwhelming at times so the writeup on Iraq is a welcome help.
