Your config options seem to let me disable the soul-level up feature and set her base health, but she still has faster movement speed and a free light aura during night which I would like to disable.
Thanks for continuing this mod, I still think this is the best looking custom character ever made.
While it's like sidegrade to chester, it's still 12 additional slots you have from start of the game (actually 11, since Mihobell). Can't die too unlike chester and you can have both at the same time.
Foxfire amulet:
Yeah, I thought so. There is also option to nerf damage, but reducing fuel recharge seems like the best option. I will try to do that.
Gumi fan:
This one is hard to balance.
It isn't one of the highest damage weapons, but has very high durability, higher range and special traits.
Anyway, lowering it's cost a bit seems alright. It isn't straight up the best weapon and it's limited to Wharang too.
Fire pits:
In original they were just fire pits with higher fuel capacity (not sure if range was affected). I added efficiency thing, so there is better reason to use them. Should have add gem cost.
Fox shrine:
I didn't even look what are exactly its stats. Soo maybe it could use some buffs.
Wharang herself:
Yeah I won't lie, I love the dodge
Its basically early/midgame Wharang's crutch and its very satisfying to use properly, however all things considered, I think it balances out the rest of her offerings
Her crafts aren't too terribly diverse, numerous or influential besides maybe Gumi Fan and Fox Amulet;
If it wasn't for the dodge, she would be a pretty meddling character with a crawling growth curve and crafts that do things the base game can do, just slightly better
Miho is nice and all, she does have more slots like Chester, but she also cannot be turned into a portable freezer, so its basically a sidegrade
Also let's not forget, with the advent of the Reworks, base chars are starting to do things that would previously be considered broken Mod char tier, I've seen it beforehand and oddly enough, a dodge seems kinda vanilla to the stuff some reworks allow
Onto za items now v
For how effective they are (in the long run atleast), I think the Blaze/Freeze Pits crafting cost could do costing one or two ruby/sapphires each
Fox Amulet is probably the only one I think that the upkeep cost is a bit too low
Wharang can already comfortably take on ganks of staggerable foes with transformed AoE, bumping dat up to 20 DMG is kinda nuts ngl
I think the Amulet should either break at 0% (Would serve her as a source to use excess tail furs), or get less recharged from nightmare fuel
Fox Shrine is meme-worthy
Its just a tent that restores 3 HP instead of 2, sure it can be refueled but 20 boards and 40 stone walls for it is a big fat joke
I only made it because it is beri purrtty
Gumi Fan is mostly fine, though 5 Feathers for it is a bit on the steep side, specially if your world doesn't happen to have good goose spawns, I think perhaps 4 Feathers is sufficient, you could instead add an extra requirement (Like 5 Beefalo Wools or so), or increase the Feather cost to 6 and add an alternative recipe, like using Fur Tufts instead of Goose Feathers, because waiting the whole year to be able to craft them is a bit...
Alternatively, I think instead you could replace the Feathers requirement with the luxury fan itself, that way the player could repurpose their investment, and if playing with others, maybe convince them to use luxury fan until near breakage so you can recycle it
That's interesting idea.
Frankly I never really got the purpose of it, it already does lower damage than the Spear and its 'durability' is completely obsolete the moment you get a Ham Bat (Which can be as early as Day 2)
I simply didn't mind it because I like when crafts get further enhanced
I would say its current purpose is starting weapon. Secondary could be fallback option when main weapon breaks (it's weak, but still an option). By adding high crafting cost could act as limitation for amount of gumi fans that you can have at once (not sure if it's good idea though).
Maybe it needs some kind of unique trait.
After a couple of minutes of thinking about it, I thought a couple of things, ranging from utility to combat; most of it are probably bad ideas, but I'll list them for safekeeping sake
(Some of these might warrant a Durability% for the effect uses however):
- Fanning active fireplaces, increasing their fuel, perhaps usable only once until the fire goes out?
- Putting out nearby fires
- More quickly harvest resources like Grass, Reeds, Spiny Bushes, etc.
- Auto-catch Boomerang use
- Marking enemies, increasing their damage taken, effectively making Gumi Fan Jr. into a supportive weapon for herself and her allies
- Fanning active fireplaces - could have a cooldown.
- Putting out nearby fires - would add use to it and maybe it could keep its infinite uses.
- Quicker harvest - it seems to be weird for it to do that.
- Auto-catch boomerang - so like it's possible to throw it? Well probably would look weird.
- Marking - looks interesting, but it probably shouldn't have infinite uses.
I also thought that maybe it could bypass damage penalty?
Anyway, the only limitation for implementing ideas is whether I will be able to code them.
Same with the harvesting thing, I mostly just said it on a mindset of it being able to fan off the resources easier than needing to pick them
I can get behind that, now then the thing would become, if that had limited uses, if it should break the fan or be able to be recharged (Being a fan, my mind first goes to either bird feathers or silk, maybe papyrus)
That would help, mostly on the early game though
But frankly I think it would be best fitted for utility, after all she DOES have a Fan dedicated for combat, its just that the Goose Feathers really limit you until your first Spring
I assume it would have to be strictly coding however? No new crafts or such?
