How you guys are using the mod? - Settings Guide
I’d like to know how you guys are using the mod? I was trying to use Homing Hour, but I’m not really understanding how to configure it. I’m living in a somewhat isolated house in a game with sprinters activated, and I’d like some zombies to approach from time to time. But only in small numbers, at most around 4–5, and in a more random way as well. Sometimes it could reach up to 10 just to add some thrill. I’m using this Wandering Zombies mod, but also trying HoderNight. The problem is that it’s hard to find a balance: either too many zombies appear (30–40 at once), or none at all. I’d like to control with this mod that movement of zombies coming closer and then moving away. Does anyone have a configuration they use for something similar? To make random in differents times? thx for answers:spiffo:

Wandering Zombies doesn't really help with drawing zombies to isolated/distant locations, it doesn't move all the zombies in the world, only the zombies that are in the active cell / loaded world. There is some migration happening due to the zombie movement, but, it's no where near enough to move zombies significant distances in the same way gunshots, alarms, the helicopter, etc, do.

If you want more migration to isolated places, you should be using Expanded Helicopter Events, and other mods (there's a few) that add more world sound events to attract/move zombies that are further away.

That said, using the Homing settings, you are capable of boosting Wandering Zombies' migration to an extent:

  • Set homing chance to a low value. I really wouldn't recommend anything higher than 20.
  • Set homing radius to 60 ~ 80.
  • Enable radius interrupt for homing.

The idea here is some zombies that are towards the edge of the active cell / loaded world are forcefully pulled inwards, towards you, and they'll stop moving towards you when they reach the radius, so they don't travel all the way to you. This way, as you move around the world, some zombies are pulled in the direction you travel, meaning over time, they follow you around. The catch here is, any additional movement towards you means you're increasing difficulty, as the zombies will have a tendency to be closer to you at all times.

As for the time related settings, it's explained in the tooltips, but here's the summary:
  • Start Hour is when the related movement settings can take effect. Start of "activity period".
  • Total Hours is the amount of time the related movement settings can last. Length of "activity period".
  • If you're using the WIP version, Cooldown Hours is used to create a delay between "activity periods".

Midnight, to midnight:
Start Hour: 0
Total Hours: 24

6am to 6pm:
Start Hour: 6
Total Hours: 12

WIP version, 24 hours, with a 6 day break:
Start Hour: 0
Total Hours: 24
Cooldown Hours: 144
