Another advice, you can use underminer to knock off enemy units away from the core. Use it to distract enemies from focusing your Core. Additionally you can use units like Augres / Juggernauts to stun enemy unit and thus force them change their target, preventing them from focusing the core.
Simply speaking prepare for enemy wave and then separate or stun spawned enemies.
You can use Underminer to spread spawned enemies so they don't focus the Core down that quickly. Units with stun ability can interrupt enemies and make them switch target.
If you have banished all sins, then you should have Empowered Units. Use them to your advantage. Remember, they spawn at the top area of your Core when timer is over so you can ''greet'' them accordingly.
Also quick freeze creates a block of Ice for 5 second which protects your core. You will need at least 2 well timed quick freezes before Core starts regenerating.
There's no rally flag used for those spawned enemies. This means they will focus the nearest target they see. Stunning them by any means will make them switch target.
They're just too strong - with the time available and the length over which they spawn, they manage to get hits on your core even immediately one-after-the-other quick freezing your core. My units don't particularly seem buffed as they die very quickly against the succubi, despite rejecting/banishing every sin.
I'm about 700 hours on WFTO and find this extremely difficult despite rapidly setting up a base, gathering gold and even Wisdom Juicing units to get their levels up and still get destroyed every time.
Love the campaign (and all your stuff) too,
I believe I introduced bunch of changes starting level 5 which make it manageable compared to initial version.
So far people seem to have better time with introduction of Quick Freeze and bunch of traps around there which seem to work quite well.
Things worth noting - hellfire potion is available at level 5, each potion does 300 HP damage. It can be used to dish out plenty of damage on those succubus as they spawn at one point, meaning 3x3 potion drop area will cover them all.
Dropping quick freeze right before they spawn will mean that core will be immune from damage. The inner core area is 3x3 range so if you position Quick Freeze potion right into the center of your Core, it should end up entirely covered by Ice Block which should render it completely immune from harm for the next 5 seconds. It also does stack so if you fear that you may miss the timing, simply wait for 4 seconds and drop a new QF on top of old one. It will generate another Ice Block which will provide the protection once again.
Putting Underminer and detonating it right when wave spawns while Core is protected will work like a cast of Shockwave and separate spawned pack into solo units. This means they will less likely focus single target, like Core and will be much more manageable. Bone Chillers also work well since you can freeze and stun entire enemy pack, preventing them from doing damage for few seconds while you drop Hellfire potions and your units hit them as well.
Regarding army composition - I strongly recommend having heavy front liners like Juggernauts / Augres. They are heavy and can tank a lot. They can also do stun damage. A bard can buff your units with aura. Priestesses will provide decent support and heal.
Another important note - you can use possession spell for faster unit training. Simply possess a unit and manually train him to level 4 or 5. You will notice how quickly you can have an army of level 5 units prepared there on your own.
I believe you do capture neutral shrines and use artifacts that spawn there too? Try to capture shrines asap as they are unprotected and can be quickly claimed.
You're welcome.
There are plenty of in-game mechanics that many people don't know because neither official base campaign nor it's dlcs elaborate them properly and unfortunately there still is no proper guide to certain game aspects being made by anyone. The game can be confusing without the knowledge of these bits.
Feel free to ask whenever you have any questions at any time. I'll try to reply as soon as possible.
