Can't get past the Scenarios screen with 1.6. SOLVED: It was Weaponry.
When I try to start a new game with CE 1.6, I get errors when I try to click "next" after clicking on a scenarios. I don't get it when *only* using CE, so it must be a conflict - I just have no idea what's causing it. The first error:

Are you using other weapon mods? could be an incompatibility with CE

Yes, but only one's who've been confirmed to be patched in other CE versions. But importantly I've been playing with CE for literally the best part of ten years now and I don't think ever experienced not being able to get past the scenarios screen. Normally, unpatched guns don't outright break the game - they give errors and mess up the UI when you try to look at their stats, and clearly don't "do CE things" - but they don't break the game like this.

if you're using guns galore its not compatible yet with 1.6 CE they say it is but its not updated in the description yet it is confirmed in discord

They usually dont break i've played from 1.4 to 1.5 with, ive tested 1.6 myself and i can confirm specific weapon mods that are not updated to 1.6 CE patch does breaks the game and prevents it from loading scenario screen try removing guns galore as its confirmed that the mod breaks when used with CE, if the problem persist in my experience bird up+ also breaks when loaded but i cant confirm which causes the incompatibility

Hmm I guess it is possible that CE 1.6 is much more sensitive that other versions, though that'd be odd. I don't use either of those mods, but if you are confident that Guns Galore is giving a similar problem to what I'm experiencing, that is evidence that weapon mods can cause the issue - implying it may be one of the several weapon mods I'm using.

After writing that I went through and painstakingly took out every mod that even *might* add new weapons and armor, and yes, now I can seemingly start a new game. Now it's just a case of agonisingly going through each of those mods to work out which is causing the error lol.

Thanks for your help though man - I'd kind of assumed that rules for other versions of CE and Rimworld would apply to 1.6.

yeah man no problem believe me i thought the same as well when i was trying to make my game work with all the CE mods enabled too it took me almost a week till i convinced myself to sacrifice a few weapon mods that i thought was compatible with CE it was well worth it now i could play the game atleast

Okay...so it turns out it was Weaponry. It used to be fine in a CE modpack, but no more, seemingly. So hopefully that'll be helpful to someone else! Thanks Zekiel - without your prompting, I wouldn't have had the will to diagnose that lol

Which mods are those? I have the same problem but don't use guns galore or bird up (too many others to list them)

Edit: Looks like Vanilla Factions Expanded Pirates is the culprit in my cause

Guys i also figured some possible issues that could cause errors that prevents you from starting any scenarios it also has some issues with mod orders if your mod manager autosorts combat extended to the lower section of your modlist it causes that same error as well my mod manager autosorted by accident and my previously working modlist just got the same scenario error. i usually force my CE to be loaded on top even when rimsort tells me to load it below vanilla expanded mods like VFE pirates cuz i run VFE pirates without having that issue, so mod order does contribute to scenario errors.
I also like to confirm that, the load order does help I just encounter this as I was thinking to do a search but until I stumbled upon this discussion in CE

Thankfully I just put the CE as high as possible to be allowed to be used with VFE pirates and other mods I have and I was able to go through scenario screen

Thank you for this information and hopefully this can be fixed in the future

There is another one as well, that I can't find. I've seen this issue with guns galore, SOS2, and Pirates. but I have Pirates in the right spot, and the other two aren't in the list. Same issue. if I find it I'll update this comment to include what also is causing it.
