Popularity of these items is because they are good, and have a strong rating, nothing unfair to what I can see. If you feel like you are being left out, a lot of people still use GAMEBANANA...
I have to disagree on these. TF2 workshop should be used for cosmetic and weapon models. Anything beyond that is bound to end up in the incompatible list. Sure there are smaller things like the sound devices category, but there aren't any maps in the workshop as far as I know, that said there shouldn't be any taunts as well. At least not yet.
And I think the difference between Gamebanana and the TF2 workshop can be really easily distinguished.
If you upload something to GB it will be just a re-skin, but if your item actually gets into TF2 that's a whole different story :s
I'm also sure that something that isn't popular or well liked wouldn't be a good addition against something that actually is.
Personally I have never tried workshop so I am running of common logic here, forgive me if Im wrong but youre item can gain popularity through GB just as much as workshop, but will mean that its harder to intigrate into the game or will have to be converted into the workshop so it can be approved.
Look at the medics "Pop it, dont drop it taunt" and heavy's Airshag. Even if it doesnt come onto the workshop, people who still wish to use these taunts before they are introduced into the game may use them at free will.
That's true. There's also the risk of some jackass downloading your item and uploading it to the workshop before you. But that's something else, I see what you mean though.
Taunts are different though.
I'll still use my original argument on this. If there aren't any maps in the workshop. There shouldn't be any taunts as well. Not just yet.
I guess you're right. The TF2 workshop at first was for cosmetics and cosmetics only. But recently they added a support for weapons, after their rise in popularity... Don't know man, if that's the case. Maybe I should start uploading some of my taunts too? :(
And while I haven't checked, there probably are at least a couple of map designs strewn throughout the TF2 workshop.
:c Arxin is best
Alright, I can go with that. Although, you are wrong about the maps. A significant part of the current TF2 maps has been made by the community. There are even stamps in the store, which you can buy to support the people who made them.
